The Walking Dead Season Two Episode 8

This is going to be a short review of the episode. I'm not going to do my normal recap of it. Basically, we see the group in shock and yet again everyone has their own opinion on what to do. Nothing really new either. Shane is unpredictable, Rick is playing the hero and goes into town to get Hershal back to the farm. They are still at the farm...

The only thing new and this may spoil the episode for you if you haven't seen it yet, is that Lori gets in an accident and is completely forgotten when the episode ends. Would have been better to show her and walkers approaching the car while she's unconscious or something. Everything else about this episode is really boring. Well maybe except the ending. I was kind of excited for new cast members especially one, who's name I forget, but he was in the first season of True Blood and the FX show Terriers that had one season. I thought it might bring some more excitement and less... melodrama to the show, but nope those guys did not last long.

I'll keep watching, but I really want to see them LEAVE the damn farm. I think they need to keep moving and not settle down. Yes, I know Lori is pregnant and that makes things difficult, but I don't see why they need to stay at the farm with all that is going on. There's too much tension and it makes the show very boring. Please, let them leave the farm next week. I want to see more of what is going on, like other survivors, how other towns or states look. I just need something new for the show. I hate to see a good thing get boring. Especially since I am starting to like zombies now.

No I have yet to see the brand new episode, but I am caught up with this season. I won't be doing my episode recap for the last 4 episodes, but this will be my overall opinion on the show thus far.

I think a lot of fans of the show will feel the same as I do. I have heard a lot of disappointment with season two of the show. I have the first season on DVD and I thought it was an amazing show. Brought something different to the whole zombie craze. I think a lot of people had high hopes for the second season. With six episodes it was fast moving and you never had time to relax.

Season two, while it starting off strong it just fell apart. I think a lot of people were hoping that they group would not be on the farm for so long. I honestly cannot tell exactly how many days they have been there, but it seems like too long. Nothing exciting has really happen this second season and I was bored. There's a reason why after the 2nd episode I stopped watching for a while. Those who were able to keep up told me how boring it was getting so I stopped.

I just don't know what happened. There was hardly any moving and the going to look for supplies or looking for the little girl was barely exciting. They missed the mark on this season.

Like most people the last 5 minutes of the finale, or whatever it is called was the best part of the season. I won't spoil it for those of you who are not caught up with the season. So needless to say I hope this new episode and the rest of the season gets better. I want them to
1) Get off the damn farm!!!
2) Move miles away from the farm!
3) Get to the fort or someplace new.

Valentine's Day Horror Edition

There's nothing scarier than Valentine's Day. Yes, even though I am not single I still never like the holiday. Nothing says I love you than forced love and desperation. So to celebrate I thought I would bring you all the better things you could be doing on Valentine's Day than stalking your fantasy crush or sitting by the phone hoping that Edward Cullen would give you a call to say he dumped Bella.

For one you can watch this trailer for a new zombie video game coming out called Lollipop Chainsaw. This game looks a bit cheesy, but maybe it better than it looks. It apparently is just for Valentine's Day.

If you are more of the watching movies with a dark side to the holidays you can watch the remake of My Bloody Valentine's Day. While there's not much about the holiday compared to the original, I liked the remake better. Eh and if your into good looking guys and alone you can enjoy some eye candy while you watch the movie.

There's also a movie called Valentine, which is a horror movie, but I have not seen it. I am sure it's cheesy, but might be something worth watching if you are in an anti-force love kind of mood.

Oh and I cannot forget. If you are truly lonely and a sick bastard The Human Centipede is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Feb 14th... ah nothing say love than a snuff film.

If you want to do something for your lover on this special day I have yet to find chocolate covered brains or zombies, so maybe if you find some cherry filled chocolates or something similar it won't be too mushy and romantic.

So don't worry of this silly holiday. have a laugh by watching a good horror movie or one that is so bad you are laughing your ass off.

Movie Review: Straw Dogs

If there's any thing I hate more than a crappy horror movie, it's a crappy movie that pretends to be a horror movie. I am not sure what other's thought about this movie based on the trailer, but I thought this was going to be similar to The Strangers.

Synopsis: David Sumner and his wife Amy movie to her Southern hometown. Tensions build between David and the locals that threatens both his and his wife's lives.

Review: Like I said above I thought this movie was going to be more of a horror film, but really it's a thriller without much to be thrilled about. The acting while okay is not that great when Amy, played by Kate Bosworth is scared for her life because their cat was murdered. She acts like she knows something about the anger of her ex Charlie, but she doesn't explain it. It seems like over kill and a silly woman overreacting.

Nothing makes much sense in this movie. I am not sure how the original was and I cannot seem to find a copy of it for comparison. I think it fell very short of being good. While the movies had it's moments I think it was missing something.

Other things that I noticed was Charlie's eyes/stare when Amy does a strip tease for them after feeling violated by them gawking at her. It wasn't a gawk of lust it was... like he was going mad or something. I like he does better as a viking vampire in True Blood.

The only elements of a horror movie was animals were killed, rape and it took place in the south. I was very disappointed to see that this movie had potential to be a horror movie, but did nothing for me.

I would rate this movie with 2 zombies. Don't rent it.

News on a Psycho Prequel

I found this on shock till you drop and thought it was interesting since this is one of my all time favorite movies. I will post their story below, but basically A&E is going to do the prequel of Psycho and all about Norman Bates... sounds interesting, but will it be good?

A&E and Universal are developing a television series called Bates Motel which is, you guessed it, all about Norman Bates.
Funny, that it should take the title of the television pilot (a failed one at that) created in '87 that was supposed to pave the way for an anthology series. Alas, it never got off the ground. A&E's Bates Motel, on the other hand, will serve as a prequel story that delves into Norman's past.
Wait a second...they've already done that, too...
Here's the official announcement from A&E:
Bates Motel serves as a prequel to the most famous fright film of all-time, Psycho. A&E is currently in script development. Bates Motel will give viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates' psyche developed from his childhood through his teen years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.
Of course, if you recall, Mick Garris' Psycho IV explored Norman's past as well. And that aforementioned television pilot from '87 - it starred Bud Cort, Lori Petty and Kurt Paul as Norman Bates.

Happy 2012

Well it looks like we all survived the new year and no zombie uprises yet to speak of, but the year is still new. Yes, this year is suppose to mark the end of the world... AS WE KNOW IT... sorry for the horrible 90s song, but it seemed fitting to sing. Anyway, hopefully I can bring this blog out of the grave since I have not been posting... anything. Again, burn out, lack of motivation and school starts early this semester, but I am hoping to post a few things coming up. One will be the whole horror/found tape/documentary franchise that is making a coming back. Also, taking a page out of Brian's book I think I will come up with top 5 or what he's been calling raining day postings, where there's nothing new to talk about so listing like my favorite Hitchcock movies, or... which actors should never been in a horror movie. Just something to keep the posts new and me not completely flaking out on all of you. You came all this way so why not entertain you with something horrific....

So here's to a new year that we all hope doesn't get taken over by zombies, aliens, cannibals dressed like George Washington (yes, they exists in some crappy movie), demonic toys, electronics that enslave us, or everyone turns into Tom Sixx. Happy New Years for the Horror House!!!

Top Ten Horror of 2011

Since I have been a very bad girl and have neglected you all do to end of the year burn out I am going to try to redeem myself by giving you my top ten list for the year. Now it will be either things I saw or did, or overall news that seems worthy to make it to me list. Not all of you may agree with me, but this is my list.

10. Human Centipede- I got to watch the first of this horrible horrible movie. I told you have much I have refuse to see the sequel and guess what we got... the cover art and release date for the second movie. It's going to be release February 14th... I may hate Valentine's Day, but who's bright idea is that? I'm sorry Tom Sixx, I just don't like your movies.

9. Reboots and Sequels- It feels like this year we had a lot of reboots or talk about reboots plus more additions to horror series. We finally got the Scream franchise finished with Scream 4. There are talks of a Munster's reboot and several of the classic slashers got rebooted as well.

8. Vampires are still overrated- We saw another Twilight movie, the Trublood series 4 and I discovered there was more vampire-human overpopulation in the bookstore... sorry vampires stop being sexy and get scary... at least Fright Night was decent.

7. "Documentary" Horror Movie- There was several I saw this year and several that came out this year. I am still not sure I buy this genre of movie. Even sadder while Brian and I were watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo there was a trailer for the next exorcism/ documentary movie called The Devil Inside. Most of the audience were whispering to each other how it looked real... insert eye roll.... people they don't film and make money off of exorcisms.

6. American Horror Story- While many people are in love with this show, I stopped watching after the 3rd episode. I am not sure what it is about this show that bothers me, but it just doesn't speak me to... hard to believe a haunted house bores me.

5. Rob Zombie- Rockstar turned director Rob Zombie is working on his next movie The Lords of Salem. Let's hope it is as good as House of 1,000 Corpse.

4. Prequels- Yeah we don't get many big prequels in the horror genre that I can think of, but this year we had The Thing, which was the prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing and the trailer for Prometheus, the Alien's prequel... wonder what is going to happen next with prequels.

3. Scary marine life- I watched both Piranha and Shark Night this year... both movies should have scared the shit out of me, but they failed miserably.

2. Hack & Slash- In October I decided to be insane and watch as many movies as I could in 30 days... it cause burnout of horror movies and I haven't watched one since I reviewed, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes... yes, I need to start watching movies again

1. Zombies, Zombies, Zombies- I haven't completely converted to the living dead yet, but this year I started to... accept them. I read World War Z and read two zombie books.

So there is my list of the top ten horror of 2011. Did I miss anything?

I have not read this book. I have read one similar called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, that I hated. Want to know my thoughts, check out my book review blog. I'll probably post it here as well.

Since I have not read the book here is the synopsis via GoodReads:

Forgive me fellow readers...I have been missing

No zombies have not eaten me, nor has a slasher stuck me with his knife, I've just been MIA. I had a death in the family, finals and projects due this month and still burnt out from Hack & Slash. No I have no given up on this blog or horror movies, I just needed some time away from them. It's not them, it's me, but I am still friends with them.... okay yeah that was cheesy, but oh well.

I have also been behind on keeping up with the news on horror movies like for The Raven and Salem's Lot that I am not sure what going on with the horror genre, and no they don't take off until next Halloween. So I am not sure what is going on, but I will try to see what I can dig up that is interesting at least. I am also behind in watching and reading in general so it's not this blog that I am neglecting.

I hope to watch watching... something more horror related here and start posting again, though don't get too comfortable. I may have an awesome internship next semester, which may take up all my time. So we'll see what happens, so thanks to those who have still been stopping by to see if I have pulled my head out of the grave.

Movie Review: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

For you youngsters you might not remember there was a cartoon called Attack of the killer tomatoes, which came from this movie. I never saw it and boy I kind of wish I never had. I was surprised by the approach of this movie. From what I remember about the cartoon, it was much better.

Synopsis: Tomatoes have started to attack and kill people.

Review: Yep, that's all you need to know about the movie. Well that and it's a comedy, similar to a Mel Brooks movie or some of the other slapstick comedies from the 1970s. Most of it makes no sense and the tomatoes aren't scary. No faces or anything, just tomatoes.

I know they wanted to make fun of the b-horror movies like The Birds and The Blob, but it just seemed like a stupid movie that some kids made to be funny. I know there's a sequel and I am not sure it's even worth watching. So this movie is a completely crap. Find the cartoon and watch that instead. Anyone want to remake this movie?

The Walking Dead Season Two Episode 2

The episode starts off, with a flashback of Lori's. She's talking to another woman about her and Rick's relationship. This is when Shane tells Lori about what happen to Rick when he got shot. Then we come back to the present and see Rick running with Carl for help. We Rick so shaken up he's unable to think properly.

Rick finds out that the bullet has separated into 6 pieces and they need standard medical equipment to try to save Carl. Shane and Otis (the man who shot Carl) got to the local high school to find the supplies. Lori gets to the house and finds out that the man treating her son, is not a doctor, but a veterinarian.

While trying to get the medical supplies Shane and Otis are surrounded by zombies and have to lock themselves in the high school. Carl doesn't have much longer to hang on and needs the surgery soon.

Opinion: This episode was just okay in my opinion. It seemed very scattered and the fact that both the children in the group are suffering makes it just messy. I have a feeling that the lives of the two children will be the focus of this season. Even worse is that I am a mother and usually things like this pull at my heart strings. In this case I am not moved at all.

I am hoping that as that the rest of the reason gets better. Remember there is only six episodes per season and they are up to number 3, but I haven't seen that one yet. Even Darryl in this episode has done a 180 from the last. It's almost like different people wrote the two different episodes.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Premier

It is finally upon us, season two of The Walking Dead!! I have been waiting for this for a long time. I had to wait until now to watch it since I have been busy.

Synopsis: We last left the group after the CDC exploded. The group is now heading towards Fort Benning. The RV breaks down on a freeway and the group looks through what is left behind for supplies they need. A heard of zombies comes through and the groups hides under the cars for safety. A few close calls,but everyone makes it. Sofia is chased by a walker and gets lost in the woods. The group keeps busying looking through the cars and moving cars off the road, while Rick, Daryl, and Glenn go looking for Sofia.

Shane tells Lori that he plans on leaving the group, which only complicates their relationship even more. We see even more issues with the group with Andrea, Dale and Shane over her gun and who is allowed to have a gun. The next day most of the group goes looking for Sofia, with Daryl leading. While looking the hear church bells, the make their way towards a church, and find zombies inside. The guys kill them quick and once again they hear bells, which is a speaker on a timer.

Andrea overhears Lori and Shane talking about Shane leaving. She asks Shane to allow her to come with him, because neither one of them belongs in the group. Rick seems to loose faith in himself after loosing Sofia. The group splits up and Lori confronts them all for blaming Rick for the outcomes and that they can go on their own if they want to.

The episode ends, when someone fires a gun at a deer Rick, Shane and Carl and goes through the deer and into Carl.

Opinion: For a season opening, it wasn't too bad. It really wasn't anything special, but I did like that Daryl had some decent moments/lines. He's stepping up to the plate you could say. There's probably more backstory to him going to come out is my guess, with what I noticed. While the beginning was great, the middle was just flat and the ending a crappy cliffhanger. I forgot the problems members of the group were having with each other so when they came up in this episode I had to remind myself. So they could have done more, I have to say 30 minutes looking for Sofia seemed a bit much. I hope they're not going to be looking for her the rest of the season, that would just be a drag.

Overall, it was decent.

Book Review: World War Z

I have been trying to finish this book for a while now. I finally was able to and now I get to review it for you guys.

Let me start off by saying if you are not a fan of zombies, but if you like books about war or history, then you might like this book. It is an oral history about when zombies start taking over the world and about how humans were able to overcome them.

The book's main character/narrator is interviewing all these people who had important roles in the war. It is a very easy read and hard to put it down. I decided to read it because I was seeing a lot on the movie that is currently being filmed based on the book. I am not sure how close the movie will be to the book, knowing Hollywood, not by much.

What appeal this book has is that, it has taken the zombie craze that people are obsessed with and put it into reality. What would happen if zombies took over the world and how would humans fair. It is different from all the other things I have seen by the fact it shows that not everyone can survive and how politics would play into it. Most movies are just about not getting bite or how to kill zombies.

So if you like zombies, or what to read a book about war and zombies this is for you.

Horror Movie Rules: Your Input Needed

I am sure you all remember Jamie Kennedy's character in Scream and his love of movies. If you remember he gave off a list of rules you should follow that horror movies has taught us to obey. We've all watched these movies and have screamed at the kids having sex that they are going to die, or why the girl is running up stairs to get away when running out the door is a much better idea.

Rules via Jamie Kennedy:

1. Sex = Death
2. Don't drink or do drugs.
3. Never say "I'll be right back"

So there's obviously more rules, and you know this if you watch horror movies. What I find funny is that Wes Craven directed Scream where the famous rules started yet in his last movie that I saw My Soul to Take he ignored most of the rules.

So anyway here's my list of rules to survive a horror movie and you guys please leave your rules or ones you want to add to my list that I might have forgotten. There is no wrong answers here... well maybe there is I just haven't heard it yet.

Fallen Bettie's Rules for Surviving a Horror Movie or a Really Bad Camping Trip, Road Trip or House Party

Sex is bad... okay... If you have sex you will die
Being high or drunk is a fast path to death, you won't realize you're in trouble until it's too late
The serial killer never dies. He always plays dead or by a miracle comes back to life. So don't assume he's dead.
If you are a black person in a horror movie... you're either going to die or die first, I didn't make up this rule, but it seems to be true in most movies
Do not trust toys of any kind. Even the cute looking ones might come to life
Do not pick up hitchhikers
Don't go anywhere alone...
Do not get help from strangers if it's raining and your car isn't working
Do not watch a tape even if it has no label... you'll regret it
Do not go running/walking into a graveyard
You will trip at least twice when being chased by a serial killer, vampire or monster
Say out of the basement or attic, doesn't matter if you heard something they are death traps
Never trust the innocent ones, they are more than likely the killer.
Avoid camping trips, desert/farm parties or any kind of party.
Always double tap. Always!!

Human Centipede II, Someone actually watched it for me

This week was not my best. I had a huge project that I was freaking out over and then ended up dropping the class so most of my week was eaten up. The Walking Dead Season One Episode Six

Episode Six: This episodes start with what Shane sawat the hospital when Rick was still in the Coma. The military is killing peopleleft and right and Shane tries to get Rick out, but is unable to and is unsurewhat to do. All the power goes out and Rick appears to be dead, so he livesRick behind and gets himself out.

The group meets the doctor asks for a chance of survival notsure to trust each other. They must submit to a blood test so he can make surenone of them are infected. This is the first time we see the group letting go andenjoying themselves. They even let young Carl try a sip of wine. Except thedoctor, who seems unwilling to enjoy the company.

They group gets their own quarters and hot water to showerin. We know that when things are tough a nice shower is always one way to makethings better. Of course not everyone isenjoying the safety. We know there’s an over looming cloud of danger. The groupall seem to be heavy on the booze enjoying the taste of… goodness.

Shane is drunk and goes to Laurie trying to tell her, hereally thought Rick was dead and that he wants her.

The next morning the doctor shows the group a brain of ahuman and then what happens when they become a walker. The subject, who allowedthe doctors to track the process, turns out to be the doctor’s wife. The process reanimates the body, but just whatcontrols the movement.

He admits that he doesn’t know what this is that isaffecting the world. Nor if anyone else is alive or if any part of the world iskept normal. They learn that the generator is about to shut down and the entireplace will destruct. In desperation someof them men check to make sure he’s no lying.

The rest of the group is not happy with things starting tolook worse; they have 30 minutes before the place goes. The group tries toleave, but the doctor has everything shut down and won’t let them go. He tells them that when the power runs outthey place will explode and burn all living things inside.

Unwilling to accept death this the men try to axe the dooropen and the doctor tells everyone who Rick knew it was going to be the end ofeveryone he loves. They plea with him that they are not going to die like this,the doctor has long forgotten what it is like to want to live.

Rick gets the doctor to open up and how his wife asked himto get going as long as possible. Rick asks the doctor to let them do the same,go as long as they possibly can. They have a right. He lets them go, but theoutside is in lockdown and he cannot open it. As they leave the doctor whisperssomething to Rick and not everyone is going to go with the group.

Andrea isn’t willing to go and Dale tries to convince her togo. He decides if she doesn’t go, neither will he. On the top the men aretrying to hack their way through the glass to get out. Nothing works, but Carolremembers that she took a grenade out of Rick’s pockets when she washed hiscloths. It blasts the window and they run out. With seconds to spare Dale and Andrea escape and the remaining survivorsshoot their way to their vehicles and drive away with the CDC crumbling behindthem.

Review: This was a great way to end the season. You are left hanging with knowing the group got out alive, but where will they go now? A good show gives you something to hold on, but wanting more. They did this with this show. You are satisfy that they got out, but are wondering where are they going?

I can see why this show has got the following and the praise it has gotten. It is well deserved and I hope that the second season follows in the same direction.

Closing Notes: Well, that is the end of The Walking Dead Season One recaps. I hope you enjoyed them. I wasn't sure I was going to get them all done before Season Two started, but I did. If you are wondering when it begins, it's right around the corner. Season 2 starts on October 16th, which is today at 9/8 central time on AMC. Check your local listing for the exact time in your area. I won't be home to watch it, but I will try to find it so I can review it by Monday.

The Walking Dead Season One Episode Five

Episode Five: This episode starts with Rick on his radio trying to get a hold of Morgan letting him know not to get to Atlanta, that it is dangerous. We also see Andrea mourning the loss of her sister and having to killer her. The men of the group are making sure all the walkers are dead and burn them.

We see Glenn get emotion about not burning members of the group who were attacked by walkers. Jim appears to be bite and this sets the group on edge. The group tries to decide where they are to go and get help from Jim. They decide to head towards the CDC, since they should be well armed, have food, shelter and other needs.

Shane and Rick are still at odds with each other. Trying to figure out who is alpha male in the group. Even so the group still moves on towards the CDC in hopes of safety. The RV cannot go any further and Jim is getting worse. He cannot take the ride and asks to be left on the side of the road. The group talks about whether to honor Jim’s wish or not. After they leave Jim, we meet a Doctor who leaves his own videos on his experience. He seems to be working for the CDC and trying to understand the virus that has the whole world mad.

The group makes it to the CDC finally and finds walkers everywhere and no access to the CDC. They have to walk quietly in order to get to the doors. At first they are not allowed in, but after Rick pleas with him, the doors open.

Review: This episodes really plays on the human emotion. Loosing love ones, how to deal with someone who is clinging on to a dead love one and how to keep surviving when so much is going wrong. To be honest I would never think of going to a place like the CDC, but maybe if I knew it was a virus or something biological I might. I guess if it was mentioned on the radio and whatnot, it would make sense. I think this episode builds up to the end of the series very well. We know that things will never go simple. Murphy's Law as we know always plays into affect in situations like this.

Horror Crafts via Etsy

I am sure most people have heard of etsy. Maybe not everyone, but if you know someone that makes crafts and sells them, then you might know what I am talking about. Etsy was the original site for handmade arts and crafts to be sold on-line. Let's face it ebay really isn't the place for handmade items. I had a store called Kimberly Ann's Jewelry, which I don't use anymore when it first started. I do have a shop now, but I don't have time to make items.

So anyway I went through their horror tag and found some amazing stuff. I had made a nice little mini etsy for all the amazing items.so take a look at the site and maybe you will find something truly special for your halloween costume or for you favorite horror fan!!

Movie Review: Scream4

I am always amazed at some horror movie franchise and how they either go on way too long, or not long enough. With Scream I wasn't sure where it was going. The 3rd movie did not seem like the right one to end on and for a movie where, the killer is always different in each movie, it's funny how despite that, we are scare of Ghostface.

Synopsis: It's been 10 years since the Woodsboro killings and Sydney Prescott returns to her hometown on a stop in her book tour. To help with the healing from all the traumatic events from her past. Of course while she thinks nothing is going to happen, but no one seems to let things stay in the past. A new killer emerges and they seem to be targeting Sydney's cousin Jill and her friends.

Review: I have always liked the Scream movies, well 2 and 3 were not that great, but they were better than some of other sequels for horror movies. As usually as the number goes up in the series the worse or too comedic the movie gets. So I was a little unsure with this one if it was really going to be good or not.

What I like about the Scream movies is they play with the "rules" of horror movie and while there are funny moments they don't get too carried away with humor. It's more about simple funny moments that actually happen in real life.

This movie was all about remakes, which seems just about right since these days there aren't many big new horror series. We are now trying to remake every good slasher film and trying to out do it. We see this in Scream 4 and you want to cheer a long with keeping things original. Even watching my boyfriend noticed right away that the killings were similar to the first movie. I had to tell him yes, but that's all I was going to say since I had seen the movie before him.

My favorite line in the movie happens at the very end and is said by Sydney Prescott and I'm paraphrasing here, "The one rule about remakes you're forgetting is don't fuck with the original." If you know me you'll know I agree with this 100%. There is only one remake I think I have ever liked better than the original and I didn't even like it on it's own.

So if you enjoyed Scream One, you will like Scream 4 just as much.

Movie Review: Hatchet

You would think with a movie that's opening song is by Marilyn Manson that the movie might be good... or at least decent. Oh boy, hold on for this haunted swap tour to get really... STUPID. Oh and the poster claims it's an old school american horror... I hope not.

Synopsis: A group of tourist take a haunted swap tour while on vacation in New Orleans. Their boat gets stuck and they are now being chased by a deformed maniac.

Review: Yes, I know that synopsis is short, but really that's what it is all about. If I went into more depth, you would be getting a play by play rather that a quick summery. Yes, the movie does begin and end with the same Marilyn Manson song and for me, that really draws me in. No I'm not a fan, but there is an element to his music that tells you to hold on and get ready for a crazy ride. The rest of the movie has this crappy music that sounds like it should be in some 1980s romance or drama film.

I don't know where to begin. Maybe the cameos of some of my favorite horror stars that just... well doesn't really do them justice. Or do I want to start with how this plot is a little too similar to Piranhas 3d, note this movie was made before Piranhas and not written by the same guy. Or should start with the bad story line and bad killing scenes?

I think I will go with the cameos. I cannot remember why I added this to my queue other than I need movies to watch for hack and slash. When I see Robert Englund, my favorite modern horror movie actor appear in the first scene I was hoping this would be good... WRONG. It was just like Richard Dryfus' character in Piranhas. Just a cameo and barely on screen. The second cameo was done by someone, who I have not seen the movies that have made him famous, Candyman, but has been in the Final Destination movies. Tony Todd, that's right. So I thought okay this should get better... he is dressed in purple and talking like a pirate. The next cameo probably passed most people by. If you didn't know his real name or the character she is best known for, hint he wears a hockey mask, wouldn't recognized him. Kane Hodden, who plays Jason Vorhees in the Friday the 13th series. His part was better, but not by much. He didn't say a word.

So the movie seems like every other new horror movie, except for the torture and rape horror movies, where it's very funny and lighthearted at the beginning and you are wondering if you are watching an actual horror movie or a comedy. Then you get lots of boob shots by the director of a "soft porn" movie and a bunch of strangers that would never be on an elevator together let alone and crappy horror movie.

The story of the killer is he was deformed and the kids made fun of him. So his dad was his only human contact. One night teenagers used firecrackers to get the killer, Victor, to come out and instead light the shack on fire. His dad, comes just in time to try to save him, but because the boy is against the door and his dad is using an ax to get the door open kills his son when the ax strikes his head. He never leaves the shack until he dies.

So somehow, maybe the second movie explains this Victor is alive and kills anyone who comes close to the shack. He doesn't just kill them with a hatchet, but rips the open, using power tools and other random methods. The story of how he's alive is he's still living in the day he died... I'm not expert, but I've seen a lot of supernatural and slasher films to know this is a crappy excuse for the killer to be alive. They needed a better story for him.

So the gore was bloody, but the fight scenes were too... rehearsed and choppy.. I didn't believe for a second that they were really that into fighting him, but boy did they love to run from him. Yet, I don't remember anyone slipping or tripping in this movie. That's like a classic slasher element.

The characters were just stupid. Like I said none of them belonged together and I think they just pick character stories out of a hat for this movie. Yes, you have to have the slutty girls and the horny guy, but the couple form the midwest or the sappy lovesick boy...? Not very well played out.

Edited for an addition: Oh and what the hell was the part about keeping secretes for? It's not like Victor killed people who lied or people who had a deep dark secrete. We get that the Asian guy lied, but why was everyone else starting to confess like there were in a Catholic church? I know it wasn't to get rid of guilt before they died. Seemed really thrown in.

And the ending... CLIFFHANGER! Though I hear that the sequel starts right were his one left off, which is good because I thought they ran out of money and couldn't finish the final kill scene.

So don't waste your time with this movie. Hopefully Hatchet II or III are much better, but when are the sequels better? Usually never.

Supernatural Season Seven Episode 2

The episode continues right where the first one left off. Sam is dealing with Lucifer, who claims he's still in hell and Dean and Bobby watch Cas, or the Leviathans leave and enter a clean water supply for the area, which they can get to anywhere or anyone.

Sam, admits to Dean and Bobby about what he's dealing with. How he is not sure he knows the difference between what's real and not. As he tells them, he sees Lucifer feeding him information. This makes Dean uneasy and he doesn't trust Sam.

The boys look up for signs of the Leviathans are attacking people. They find a sign in Kansas that might be them. Dean goes alone with Sam stays with Bobby, since they cannot trust Sam with his issue. Dean investigates and finds that there are Leviathans starting to reek havoc on the world.

Sam tries to understand why Lucifer still toys with Sam. He says it will all end when he cannot take anymore. This make it hard as Lucifer keep toying with him. Bobby leaves when fellow hunter calls to say her surgeon is going to eat her liver. The beast decide to take over medical staff of a hospital. They are more than just two and Dean comes to Sam to help Bobby out. Sam was only going to keep the car running, but since there is 5 of them, Sam has to come help. Dean gives him a lecture about how he cannot be seeing Lucifer.

Turns out it was Lucifer bating Sam to a warehouse to get to the final chapter. The real Dean shows up and Sam doesn't know which one is real. Sam has a gun pointed at Dean and is very confused. Dean tries to tell Sam that the torture felt different in hell than in the real life. Bobby interrupts telling them he has a live Leviathans and they are needing to figure out who to kill them. They show up at Bobby's and the house has burnt down.

They come face to face with one of the Leviathans and fight him. Both Sam and Dean are taken to the hospital. We don't know if Bobby is still alive or if they really killed the Leviathan.

My Opinion: This episode was pretty good. The story was good and I really like the aspects of Sam's dealing with Lucifer. It's a interesting concept to think that much of this is all made up and how would one act. I do find it interesting that they never once say his name. I am not sure if there is a reason for this or not.

I think the story of Sam dealing with his demons took the front seat and dealing with the Leviathans was just a side affect to give the boys something to do. I am still waiting to see what all of this means for the boys.

I am still not into the whole heaven and hell aspect of the show, but it's starting to get back to its roots. I also didn't even notice the music in this episode so I think it might have been only one classic rock song. I like it when they have a few, it just seems to fit the mood of the show better.

The Walking Dead Season One Episode Four Recap

Episode Four: We left off with Daryl angry that Merleis not on the roof and instead of killing everyone like he wants to, he takeMerle’s hand to preserve if when they find him. Merle is nowhere to be found,but he seems to have gotten out alive.

Back at camp one of the members of the group, Jim is digginga lot of holes and that worries everyone. They try to stop him and they have toforce him to stop. Meanwhile back in the city Glenn comes up with a plan to getthe bag of guns. As we know nothing goes right for them. A young boy confrontsDaryl and he is beat up while Glenn is taken.

The men try to get the boy to tell them where they tookGlenn so they could get him back. Neither is willing to back down so Rick hasto come up with what can be spared. A huge fight is about to break out, when anold woman comes in and stops everything. Turns out that the gang bangers stayedin an elderly home to take care of the people who were left behind. Ricks givesthem about half their guns and ammo and walk back to where the truck was leftand it is missing. They assume Merle took it and heads back to camp take hisvengeance on the group. So they must hurry back.

The group is having dinner and enjoying freshly caught fish.No one is really concerned with the missing men or anything else around them. Walkershave invaded the campsite and both Ed and Amy have been attacked. The 4 men areapproaching the camp when they hear Shane’s gunshots and rush towards the camp.Panic strikes everyone and no one knows where to go or what to do. The men comeand kill as many walkers as they can while everyone else heads towards the RV.

The episode ends with Andrea crying over Amy and the groupstunned. Jim remembers why he dug the holes.

Review: I enjoyed this episode, it's pretty fast moving and there are a few surprises that come up. I really like how the group of thugs were not what they appear to be. Okay some of them were, but it showed how, eve though the world has gone crazy people still victimize the weak. There are not changes, just the situation got dire. People would of course blame their actions on things other than who they are.

The whole Jim thing seems a bit... odd. It's not really a guy who has a crazy dream that turns real, even though that's what we see. It just seems like a weird idea that just didn't play well for me.

Horror Movie Classics: Atom Age Vampire

This movie is an Italian film, which explains the horrible dubbing that is done. I was shocked to see the bad dubbing when I saw it was done in 1960, I knew movies were made better. Since, it's an Italian film that would explain that aspect.

This movie is very confusing for me. The only vampire was a reference they made about the people who survived Hiroshima. The science behind this movie made no sense to me, but I don't think they were trying to explain it like in so many other mad scientist movies. Basically, this woman survives a nasty car crash with just burn scars to half her face and neck. She will always be deformed until a professor tells her he can cure her. He is madly in love with her and when treatment is not working as it should he transforms into this beast to help keep her beautiful and to prove her that, she loves him.

This movie wasn't as good as other movies I have seen from this decade or on the topic of mad scientist.

Hack & Slash has Begin

So it is that time where I watch lots of horror films and try to watch as many as possible. I want to do reviews of them all, but that might be impossible so I think I may do short reviews for the movies I watch this month unless it's a movie I feel needs a longer review.

I have already started with... well I won't say how many, but I need a lot of time to do this. The other disadvantage I have is I have to wait till my son is either not here or asleep. B-Movies are probably the only ones he can watch without being exposed to anything he shouldn't be.

So what you are going to need to look for incase you want to see how I do:

1) I will post on Sundays my list of movies I watched for the week with their run times, my rating and if they count for any bonus points. Since it started today next Sunday will be the list for movie watched the week of Oct 2nd.

2) I have a separate page where I will list all the movie week by week. It's a tab next to the video page

3) I will post possible reviews in the month or further down the road, so I will be taking notes like I do for all the movies I post

And I started the challenge with Saw IV... yeah I wanted to start with Saw I, but my boyfriend put in the disk of the movie from the series he hadn't seen and that happens to be IV. So I will watch all the them, but it's a little out of order.

So try to keep up with me for this challenge since it's probably the only thing going on here this month. No I don't have plans or costume ideas for Halloween either... I know it's horrible.

The Walking Dead Season One Recap Episode Three

Episode Three: The episode opens with Merle still stuck onthe roof, obviously has lost it. He’s still trying to get free because zombieshave made it to the roof and he’s close to becoming one himself. As he liesthere praying he sees a hacksaw and we can assume what he’s going to do.

Our group of survivors is making their way back towards thecamp, while Shane offers to teach Carl how to catch frogs to feed the group. Ofcourse Glenn arrives in the Charger still with the alarm going off. We now see the family reunion Rick and Lorinever thought they would get. Later on that night Rick tells everyone what itwas like waking up with out knowing what was going on.

Of course not all is good and happy at camp. There are stillproblems between people, too many alpha males in the camp. There is also talkabout how to tell Daryl, Merle’s brother, what happen to him.

The next morning all seems fine until the children scream asthey find a walker eating deer that has been shot down with arrows. The men useweapons to kill it. In comes Daryl who has just returned from his hunting trip.The guys break it to Daryl about his brother and he tries to fight Rick andShane. Rick explains what happens and that he’s planning on going back to getMerle. Shane and others have an issue with this, but Rick, Daryl, Glenn andT-Dog decide to go.

While the four men are back in the city to get the guns andMerle, Shane teaches Carl how to catch frogs and the women talk about doing allthe work around the camp and al the things they miss. Ed, who is your typicallycontrolling husband, has to but in he tries to control the women and Shanesteps in and beats Ed’s ass. Also, we have Lori and Shane arguing about theirevolving relationship and how she doesn’t want him around her family.

The men get to the store and instead of finding Merle allthey find is a severed hand and the tools. And we have the end of the episode.

My Opinion: I like this episode because it introduces probably my favorite characters and actor on the show, who for some reason is overlooking. I guess he started out as a guess actor, but I think of him as an important main character. That would be Daryl Dixon played by Norman Reedus. I guess it's because he's in on all time favorite movie, which is not a horror film, Boondock Saints.

I think what this episode does is shows us the kind of men both Rick and Shane are. Rick is your hero, who sacrifices everything to make sure everyone has a fair chance. Shane on the other hand is all about staying together, even though in the trailer for the second season it appears that he might leave the group. It shows how a like, but different these two friends are.

I am not a fan of the love triangle, well if you even want to call it that. It seems stupid and I am not sure how much time most women would be willing to give themselves before they get involved with another man. I just don't know.

I also cannot stand Lori when it comes to big emotions. She has these wide open deer in the headlight eyes that just seem to be one of her few emotions. You see it in just about every episode when something terrible, shocking or scary happens.

My last thought is I wonder if they will ever find Merle and/or Morgan, or if they are just forgotten now. I am not sure what to expect, it doesn't seem like there's too much talk about these characters returning, but I could be wrong.

Movie Review: Trollhunter

This is a foreign film, that I believe they are going to do an American version of. If so I am not sure that is going to be any good. To warn you this movie is one of those "found tapes" documentary movies and while it's not exactly horror trolls are creatures and they can fit into the horror category.

Synopsis: This movie is about a college film crew who is trying to figure out why all these bears are being killed. They believe it is a poacher named Hans and they start following him. What they are about to find out is that he's not killing bears, but trolls. He is the solo reason most people in Norway from having to deal with them. They get in over their heads as they decide to document their journey with him and he's willing to give up national secrets, which puts them all in danger.

Review: I was recommended to see this movie. I put it off, but I will say it was worth a bit of wait. It's a very good movie. It is probably the only "documentary" "found tapes" movie I have ever liked. That is saying a lot since I usually hate and stay away from this genre all together. Maybe because it's a foreign film that it's done well or it's an interesting concept that makes it good. The acting was done very well. It's not done where it's too cheesy or just bad acting. I would recommend seeing this movie. It has some great scenes and special effects to it.

Day 30: 30 Day Favorite Horror Film Challenge

Day 30 - Your favorite horror film of all time - Awww we've come to an end of the 30 day horror film challenge. It has been a lot of fun and I am finding that I haven't seen nearly as many horror movies at others have. This new challenge that starts Sunday, should change that.

So what is my all time favorite horror movie? Well on my about me post I said it was Psycho, but I have used that one already. So what really is my favorite horror movie.... Scream. I believe it is one of the first horror movies I saw when I started to get into horror. It was a movie that I felt was done really well. It played on some of the characteristic themes, but also was not afraid to be funny. And of course it is directed by Wes Craven with an all-star cast.

Day 29: 30 Day Favorite Horror Film Challenge

Day 29 - Your least favorite horror film of all time - Believe it or not, while there are a lot of movies I hate I was able to think of my all time least favorite. I even believe they are doing a 3rd on, which is sad since this one was so bad that I didn't think it deserves a chance at redemption.

Jeepers Creepers 2, I am not sure if it was the people around us in the theater that added to this movie being so bad or if the movie was that bad on it's own. The first one was decent and Brian and I even got the crap scared out of us on our way home. The second one was a huge let down. To add to it we had rude people sitting around us who kept chanting don't kill the black boy the entire movie. This made a bad movie even worse because well, you'll find out later (I'm doing a post on it), there are rules for horror movies and usually the black character dies. The story line of this one was bad no thought put to it. I like to pretend I never saw this movie.

HALLOWEEN HORROR MOVIE MARATHON MADNESS: The Hack & Slash Edition THE RULES!!!!!

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!! Fall is my favorite season. Every year, for the month of October, I watch all genre, horror and Halloween related films (as do many of you) I can and make it into a game. It has been a tradition of mine for quite some time. So I am asking folks to join me in this fun family institution. You can play the game below with me, or not, as long as you enjoy yourself.

If you want to actively participate let me know and place a comment below.

This is a game of “Quantity” game not “Quality”. This “contest” gives a format to others so they add films of interest to their own “to watch” lists. I also have the extra pleasure of blowing up my husband’s mind once a year. I LOVE bad films and he is NOT a horror fan. There is some new scoring this year, so if you have participated before, make sure to read this note carefully.

THE GAME!

Starting SUNDAY OCTOBER 2nd and ending MONDAY OCTOBER 31st, I will be watching nothing but horror, genre or Halloween related films, as many as (in)humanly possible. 3. You must post your results ONCE A WEEK on your FB NOTES or BLOG (tag me in FB please!!).

4. Your Blog/Notes should say THE MADNESS: HACK & SLASH Week XXXX!

5. You must post by EVERY SUNDAY for the films for that week to count.

(SPECIAL NOTE: Because Halloween is on a MONDAY this year, you can post on TUESDAY NOVEMBER 1ST for the final week.)

6. If you have written a review for a horror film that was posted in the week on a BLOG or WEBSITE, you can use it as long as you count it in your Sunday post.

7. You’re Blog/Notes should have the FILM TITLES watched for the week, RUN TIME & some kind of RATING. (Stars, grades, thumbs up, like/dislike etc) and the justification for Bonus Points and/or Wild Cards. Only a couple sentences are needed.

8. A film week is SUNDAY to SATURDAY. (With the exception of the final week which will be Sunday to Monday)

9. I will announce a weekly “winner”, but the “grand winner' will go to the cumulative winner for the whole month. Slow and steady viewers get a better chance to “win” that way.

10. Points are counted by the hours watched. For Example: a feature film (Over 1 Hour) is worth 2 points unless it is over two hours, then you get more by ROUNDING to the closest half hour (EXAMPLE: A Two hour and 15 minute film would be worth 2.0 points. BUT a 2 hour and 16 minute film would be worth 2.5 points!). Hour TV shows are 1 point, ½ hour TV Shows are worth .5.

FIRST JUDGE: Is an Original Geek and a veteran to THE MADNESS Freddie “The Wolf” Young of FULL MOON HORROR REVIEWS!! He has been around the barn a few times, has great knowledge of Slasher as well as an (un)healthy obsession with Elvira I really admire.

THE OTHER JUDGE: is new to THE MADNESS but a leading voice in horror, the RONDO nominated and DOLLAR BIN HORROR’S own Eric Polk! He is a welcome addition to any horror themed party!!

THESE GUYS are my Slasher experts this year and will help me decide on eligible films for Bonus Points. Just remember YOU ARE ALLOWED TO MAKE A CASE FOR ANY FILM you think is eligible for the contest and/or bonuses. PM me or write on this Page’s wall when you have a question. THE FIRST PERSON TO WATCH ONE OF THESE FILMS GETS THE EXTRA POINTS!

There is a Secret List of TEN SLASHER FILMS that are worth 10 POINTS each. Only I and the judges know which films they are, but they are favorites of ours and some classic films of the Sub-Genre.

There is also THREE FILMS that are worth 15 POINTS!!!

ONE: This Suspense film is a CLASSIC and considered a founding film of the Slasher Sub-Genre.

TWO: is a HORROR FILM but not really a Slasher. However its influence cannot be denied.

THREE: is a WILD CARD Sci-Fi/Historical/Serial Killer/Suspense thriller I LOVED as a child and was the first time I saw any gore in a film (be it only one or two shots).

(HINT: The more you know about my past and film tastes, this film becomes easier to find).

There is also ONE TWENTY POINT Film, that not even the Guest Judges don’t know about!! This 80's film is MORE OF A COMEDY THAN A SLASHER but easily fits into both genres!!! There are no clues in the WILD CARDS for this one.

After these films are found, if anyone else watches them, they will be score by the “normal” point system.

YOU MUST TELL ME, in your post, WHY you should get the BONUS POINTS. I may not know the film so you must tell me so I can give you the correct amount of points. Like I said this year even I am a little blind so letting me know iis of the up most importance.

Day 28: 30 Day Favorite Horror Film Challenge

Day 28 - Your favorite horror film that no one's ever heard of - This movie I had to do a search to find the name. I had seen it on TV years ago and it still is fresh in my mind to this day. Randomly, images from this movie creep into my mind. I don't think many people have heard of this movie even though is had a well known cast, Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, & Dom DeLuise. It was even directed by Wilder himself.

Haunted Honeymoon!! What is so great about this movie? It is just different. Yes, it's a comedy, but it also plays along with your classic horror film of people visiting an interesting family member and the craziness that can happen is a large haunted house. Who wouldn't want their honeymoon to be this... interesting. There is also a twist that I wasn't expecting, but made the movie even better. Here's the trailer:

Day 27 - Your favorite guilty pleasure - Finally an easy one, where I am not looking up what other people have said or going through a list of movies trying to figure out what fits in this category. I think everyone would call this one of my all time favorite movies.

Nightmare Before Christmas has been a favorite of mine since I was little. I even have the soundtrack. I am not one that knows a movie so well I can recite/sing lines, but this one I can. It's just different and the way the movie was filmed as just amazing and obviously painstaking. I watch this movie a lot and I really wish I had a 3D TV so I could watch it since that just came out.

Day 26 - Your favorite horror film to watch as a child- As a kid I was not really into horror so the movies I watched were not really horror related so my favorite movie as a child was one about witches. Closest thing I can think of that would fit.

Hocus Pocus, I think I watched this movie a million times as a kid when it came out. I was an older kid, but I still enjoyed it. It probably what got me into reading about the Salem Witch Trials and Salem Village when I reach my teens. It's a really goofy movie and really plays on the ugly vs. sexy witch, but was still a movie that was fun to watch despite it's corniness.

Day 25: 30 Day Favorite Horror Film Challenge

Day 25 - A horror film that you used to hate, but now like - So this isn't really a movie I hated and now like. It's a movie that I was disappointed with and now are starting to give it a second chance. And it maybe the first series I will review.

Saw was a movie that everyone was raving about how different it was from other horror movies. When it came out was around the time I gave up on horror movies. I was tired of the same old bullshit and crappy movies that people thought was horror. I saw it a while after it came out on DVD and did not see what people were raving about. I have seen the first one, one other time and half of the second movie and I started to see what people were talking about. I just actually bought the 5 disk unrated collectors set for the series and I almost bought Saw: The Final Chapter, but I didn't. So this movie is one I didn't like, but now I can see why people like it so much. I just hope it's better than the final destination series.

The Walking Dead Season One Episode Two Recap

Episode Two: This episode lets us meet the group ofsurvivors. We see that some kind ofrelationship between Lori and Shane have taken place, though it’s one of lust.We also start were episode one left off, Rick being stuck in the tank while a voicefrom the radio helps him make an escape plan. Once Rick is free and meets aseparate group of survivors who are not happy about Rick’s arrival.

Now our group is trapped and has nowhere to go. Plus, there are already tensions between themembers of the group. We meet Merle Dixon who cannot leave his racist opinionsto himself and he suffers for it. Rick handcuffs him and he gets left behind.The group tries to use the sewers to escape. Glenn, our mystery voice andanother survivor inspect the sewers while everyone, but Merle keep an eye outon the main level for walkers.

The walkers break through and the sewer is closed off. So Rick, being the hero he is and coming upwith crazy plans decides that in order for them to smell dead they will coverthemselves, from the neck down of course with walker… pieces. They test itwalking to the construction site to get a truck and it works pretty good… untilit starts to rain. They make it to thetruck and come up with another plan to get the walkers away from the store.This of course means hot-wiring a Dodge Charger with the theft alarm soundingoff.

In a hurry to meet the truck they are torn with whether tolet Merle free or not. The key is dropped and Merle is left behind with walkersclosing in. They do chain the door sothat hopefully Merle will not have any walkers find him on the roof. The group pikes into the truck with secondsto spare and flies down the road back towards the camp. The episode ends withGlenn Driving the Charger back to the camp enjoying the ride.

My Reaction: This episode I like a lot because of the action of it. Who would think to take a walker chop them up and then slather those pieces on them so they do not smell like a human? I've seen shows or movies where people will tried to act like a zombie to get by, but never this.

I also like how Rick is always coming up with ideas to get the group out. You can see how he is trying to get out so he can see his wife and son again. No one seems to know that his family is part of their group back at the camp site.

I will say to go from the 90 minute season premiere to the 50 minute second episode is kind of a let down. I know shows do this a lot, but when you watch it episode by episode it takes something away. I didn't notice this the first time I watched this, but we watch the entire season is on sitting. I am doing it episode by episode so I can write these recaps.

So this is a good episode, with some crazy gore and scary walkers. The scenes with the group back at the camp site seem a bit pointless, but I think there is a point to them. It gives you an idea of what people are doing when they are not face with the threat of walkers.

Supernatural Season Seven Premiere

Cas, Dean and Death

This past Friday was the premiere episode for season seven of Supernatural. Now, for me, things in this show is getting a bit confusing. There's is a lot going on and most of it I have never heard of. So I will try my best to explain things to you all so you won't be confused.

Synopsis: God has been missing for some time and Castiel has taken over as being God. He tells Dean, Sam and Bobby that because they went against him (season six will explain this all) that he could smite them, but he's not. They are lucky to escape his wrath, but he will get them later. The boys and Bobby return to the junkyard where Dean is once again trying to fix their chevy impala and Sam is having memories of Hell coming back to haunt him. There is no sign of Cas (this is what they call him) anywhere until there are signs of mass murders of church leaders and others. They describe the man as a young man wearing a trench coat, which is the exact description of Cas.

I love that Death has a thing for crappy food

So the boys and Bobby summon Crowely, a demon who once was king of hell, to help them kill Cas. The only way to do this is to bound Death and make him kill Cas. In order to do this they need a very old spell, which Crowely is willing to give them. They need a crystal that was made when lightening hit sand for the spell. They preform the spell and Death appears. Death by now is tried of the boys and isn't exactly happy about them binding him. Cas appears looking really bad, he has burns and wounds. We learn that he not only has lots of souls inside of him, but beasts all Leviathans (the first creatures God made).

So after all of this Cas, tries to show that he is a just God, but kills a lot of people and comes to the boys and Bobby for help. Death had told them that if they got Cas, to the gates of purgatory, then they could be rid of him. So they get everything set up, when Lucifer appears to Sam telling him, he's still in Hell and that it was his greatest torture ever. The gate opens and what was inside of Cas, gets sucked in. Cas, survives, but he's taken over by the Leviathans.

My Opinion: This episode was okay. I like this show, but I enjoy the older episodes. For those of you who haven't seen the first several seasons there was no heaven, hell, or angels. It was about the two boys looking for the dad and hunting spirits, demons and other creatures. Things were more simplistic and were pretty good. Now with all this angel business I find myself confused a lot and having to look a lot of the stuff up, because my 10 years of Catholic school has taught me nothing that helps.

I also have been thinking about looking up the Latin they use in their spells. I take Latin, though I am not good at it and I wonder if they are saying anything that makes sense.

I will say that this show has great music. If you are a fan of classic rock like Journey or Led Zeppelin, then you will love the music they use in this show. I personally am not a fan of that genre, I'm a rockabilly/punk fan, but even I like the music.

Other than that I am not sure where this season is going. I really wish they would get back to the boys hunting spirits or bigfoot. I miss those old days. So I will keep watching just to see where this is all going.

Day 24: 30 Day Favorite Horror Film Challenge

Day 24 - Horror film in which you perfer the edited version over the director's cut - I honestly got to way that I have no clue about the differences between the edited version and director's cut. I pay no attention to which versions I watch.

This movies is more of a sci-fi movie, but it's the only one I can think of where I know the edited version is better. Donnie Darko, is a cult classic I would say and from what I remember the director's cut was just bad. I don't remember and I really just watch whatever is out there and don't pay attention to what version this movie is. Sorry this one is kind of a cop out.

Reaction to Human Centipede 2

Well the world premier is among us for The Human Centipede 2. I am going to share the video review that Shock Till You Drop did while at Fantastic Fest 2011. From what they said, I was right on with this one. Does deliver on the gore, but nothing makes sense. So I am still not seeing it. Like I said before if anyone is crazy enough to see it and you want to write a review for me to post here go head when it comes out. I'm going to copy what AMC has on their blog, but I think this is a cool idea. I have to use the power of the internet to watch this show, so I hope this after show discussion will be online as well. That would be cool to add to my reviews and recaps when season two starts up.

AMC announced today Talking Dead, the network's first live after-show that serves as a platform for discussion for AMC's series, The Walking Dead. The half-hour episodes are produced by Michael Davies' Embassy Row and are hosted by Chris Hardwick (Nerdist; G4). Talking Dead" premieres immediately following the encore presentation of The Walking Dead on Sun., Oct. 16. Then beginning on Fri., Nov. 4 the series follows The Walking Dead's encore presentation at 11 PM | 10C.
Talking Dead features Hardwick spending time with fans, actors, producers and tv enthusiasts, recapping that most recent Dead episode, and taking questions and comments from viewers. Fans may continue to engage with the after-show following the on-air conclusion, online, at amctv.com for more conversations, questions and trivia.

"As an ENORMOUS fan of both The Walking Dead comic and television show, I pretty much begged for this job. I'm fairly certain I slobbered on the phone while doing it. Another Horror Movie Challenge in October

So I must be insane. I have a lot to do already with my schoolwork this semester and I decided to do this horror movie challenge in October. You're probably thinking it's no big deal. Well, the premise of this challenge is to watch as many horror movies as inhumanly possible each week... yeah, where I am going to find time to do that I don't know. I could just have them on while I'm doing my research, but what's the point if I'm not actually watching them. There's prizes too!! That's why I'm doing this. I love horror movies and free stuff!!!

So I'm trying not to watch any of those until October 1st when the challenge begins.

I will review everything that I do watch, it should help that The Walking Dead and Supernatural will have started so I can add those to this challenge. So just be nice and I will have lots of reviews to share. I am caught up, except I need to review Trollhunter, but other than that, what's on my list I haven't seen yet.

Is it sad that this all means that Halloween is coming up and I have no plans or costume ideas... what's a girl to do.

Day 23: 30 Day Favorite Horror Film Challenge

Day 23 - Your favorite made for TV horror film - This one is going to be hard. For one thing I do not have cable... say what?! Yes, I have whatever the rabbit ears gives me. Though, I think no one but Lifetime and Hallmark Channel has made for TV movies that are only horror, because it's a horror anyone would watch them. So this means I have to go back to the 1980s and 19990s when made for TV movies were big and some of them were actually horror movies.

There are some I remember on TV, but either I did not see them or they were remakes of films that came out in theater i.e. The Shinning with Steven Weber.

The one that I do like was Kingdom Hospital. I cannot remember all of what it was about other than it was creepy and I was shocked that it was on TV, it was on in 2004. I do remember the creepy children and all the people that died in the movie. There has been many Steven King Novels and stories that have turned into movies and tv shows. Most I enjoy and some I do not.

The Walking Dead Season One Episode One Recap

Episode One: This episode shows us the aftermath ofwhatever madness has happen to this small town in Georgia. We meet Rick Grimesand his best friend and partner Shane. We see the desperation people wentthrough trying to escape and survive. Rick wakes up after being criticallyinjured after being shoot twice while trying to capture a car full of suspects,to find things are not how they use to be.

The hospital is empty and what he does find is tons ofbodies. Unsure of what has happen Rick flees uneasily towards his home to lookfor his wife and son. While trying to understand what is going on when his wifeand son are not home he meets two survivors, a man and his son. They treat himhostilely, since they are unsure if a walker or something else wounded him.Once he has convinced them he just woke up and have no idea what has happen herealized things are very wrong.

He learns that lights and loud noises attract the walkersand not to let any of their blood get on his face. He takes the man and his sonto the sheriff’s station where they take a shower and load up on guns. Theypart ways, Rick heads towards Atlanta, where there is suppose to be safe refugeand the CDC, and the man and his son go back to the home where he tries to cutties with his wife who became a walker.

We meet other survivors who are outside of Atlanta withShane. They receive a radio transmission, but are unable to communicate withRick, neither Shane nor Rick’s wife recognize his voice due to static. There isa fight between Lorie and Shane about putting signs up to let people know thatthe city is not safe. Lorie and Shane obviously have a romance going on, but itseems to be out of need rather than love.

Rick comes across an abandon home, where he finds a grim situation;it appears that the homeowners killed themselves so they would not turn intowalkers. Rick finds a horse at thishouse and uses it when he is out of gas in his cruiser. As he approaches Atlanta everything seemsdeserted like the town he just left, but of course the town is full ofwalkers.

Seeing a chopper in the air Rick rides through the citytrying to find it and let them see him, when he rides right into a huge crowdof walkers. He becomes surrounded and is knocked off his horse. He retreatsunder a tank, where he is cornered and has to shoot to give him a way out. Ashe seems to attempt a quick suicide he climbs through a hatch into the tank,where he kills a walker and because of the close quarters starts to go deaffrom the bullet bouncing off the walls and creating a ringing noise. Now thathis bag full of guns is in the middle of the walkers Rick is stuck in the tank.Again suicide seems to be his only option, when a voice comes over the radio.Who is this mysterious person?

My Opinions: It is easy to see that while this is the first episode, it is not that exciting compared to the rest of the season. The reason is it has to set up the madness and what Rick goes through as he first finds out what happens while he was in a coma. With that said the walkers in the episode are still pretty cool, bicycle girl and the little girl are two that stand out in the episode. If you have the DVDs for season one watch the special features, they show you how they did bicycle girl. You will be impressed.

What I liked about this episode that it did take it's time, as does this season explaining things to you. Some shows rush everything in 20 or 50 minutes, this show does not d this even when the first episode is 90 minutes long. Trust me I rather them take the time to do things that rush through it and you feeling like it was too short of a ride.

Another thing this show does well, especially with this episode and the next is using simple things to pull out emotions. When you see Shane and you assume at least two of the survivors are Rick's wife and son you hope he finds them. It's simple, but you are left with the hope that something good will come out of this madness.

The Walking Dead Season One Recaps

I meant to get this done earlier so I could do one post a week, the six weeks leading up to the season 2 premier, well obviously that isn't possible, so expect one or more posts a week recapping each of the six episodes. I will try to give as much detail without writing a 5 page paper on the episode and then give me views on it. This will be anything from what I like, what I hated, and anything to note. If you want to watch on your own and not have things spoiled then don't read these recaps because I may give some spoilers away. Also if you want to comment and have a discussion on each post on the episode feel free to do that as well.

Day 22 - Your favorite horror themed TV show - Oh geez!! there's too many to name here. I can think of 3 shows of the bat that I LOVE that are horror theme. Why must I choose?! I take that back I could add a 4th to that because the main character is a witch. Well since I must I am going to go with The Munsters.

I loved this show when I was little and the theme song catches you right away. Yes, the Adam's Family has a catchy song too, but I like this concept a bit more. I am not sure who thought of this, but I love it. If you haven't seen this show look for it.

Day 21 - Your favorite medical horror film - Well I guess you could all guess that the Human Centipede is not my favorite medical horror film. I can only think of one, and it was a movie I was afraid to watch because I thought it was going to be corny and just bad.

Repo the Genetic Opera is actually a good movie. Yes, Paris HIlton sings in it, but if you look past that, you have an interesting story and some great singing by the wonderful Sarah Brightman. The movie is about a future world where people were dying until this miracle was found that will cure people. Of course not everyone can afford it and this is where the repo man comes in. Yes, it's a similar plot to Repo Men staring Jude Law, but this is darker and a musical.

I was afraid to see it because of the musical aspect, but friends of mine said it was actually good, so I rented it and was surprised at how good it was.

Day 20 - Your favorite horror film involving a killer animal - This genre is a bit over done I guess you could say. A lot of them are really really bad. I have seen a lot of them on Elvira's Movie Macabre. So I had to go through yet again a list to see what I have seen and which I like. Which of course I completely passed another one of my favorite movies directed by my favorite director.

The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock. What I love about his movies and this is that a simple concept brings fear into people. No one really thinks birds are scary, but some how Hitchcock makes them scary and now crows and other black birds have a creepy feel to them.

I want this!!!

Movie Review: Let Me In

I have been putting this one off because it's a crappy movie. I put off watching it and once I did, I did not see how how anyone liked it. It was trying to be different, but it was just a crappy vampire movie.

Synopsis: A tormented boy has a new neighbor, a young girl. She at first will not be his friend, but finally she does. Their friendship becomes strong and he learns that she has a dark secret.

Review: This movie was just okay. It's a vampire movie, but that's hard to tell since it lacks much of anything that is typical for a vampire movie. The plot is just boring and I really did not see how people were raving about this movie. I think this movie was over amped up.

Do not waste your time with this movie. It was nothing important or ground breaking.

Day 19 - Your favorite horror film involving the powers of Hell or Satanism - Yeah this movie was either a hit or miss for most people. I really liked it when it came out. Maybe because it seem a bit different to me is the reason why I like it. Constantine was different than your usual Catholic based movie or even your good vs. evil movie.

While Keanu is not a great actor I thought his character was truly different. Also, it is a bit similar to the show Supernatural, which I like so maybe that as well made me like it.

Movie Review: Buried

This was the second movie I got from Rue Morgue's contest and while it's not exactly horror it does have that psychological thriller aspect to it. Get ready for this review because... I am going to tear it a new one.

Synopsis: A truck driver wakes up buried alive after his convey is attack by Iraqi insurgents. He frantically calls everyone he can think of so he can survive and get out. His captures ask him to get millions of dollars and to make videos so he can be release.

Review: Do you all remember the movie Phone booth with Colin Ferrel? Well this movie is just like that, but in a coffin and you only see Ryan Reynolds. This is a movie from Spain and mad did it suck. I was bored and within ten minutes I knew it was going to be like Phone Booth. The only difference is after then minutes of watching Phone Booth I stopped watching it and returned it back to the rental store. This one I sat through it hoping it was get better.

Yes, being buried alive is a horrible thing and you add the fact that Iraqis did it to you, you scare people. What bores them is Reynolds grunting and moaning over and over again. I was just bored and was waiting to see if he lives or dies.

So no gore, other than he cuts his finger, but you heard it only. There's a scene were a snake magically appears in his pant leg. Not sure what kind of snake it was suppose to be, but it looked like a black king snake that we have here in Arizona. No climax, no excitement. Just utter boredom. It was like putting a camera in an empty room and claiming it to be a great movie.

I am glad however that this was a free movie that I was given and not one that I bought. It was a huge waste of my time and I am not sure how anyone could love this movie. So avoid this movie at all costs.

Classic Horror: The Ape

My second classic horror movie is The Ape starting Boris Karloff. If you don't know who Karloff is, then you need to start watching the classic horror films. He's is one of the original and great horror actors. This movie is not exactly horror, but Karloff's character could be called a mad scientists so if fits into the horror genre.

This movie is about a doctor who is obsessed with curing paralysis. He's lost family members to the condition and is determined to find a cure. While this is going on there's an escape Ape running around town terrorizing everyone.

So since this movie was done in 1940 it is a very raw edited movie. Scenes are short, they either are cutoff by another scene or skipped altogether. Talkies were still improving at this time and I believe that some of the dialogue was recorded after the film was made, it appeared so in some of the scenes. Yes, there are mistakes like these, but most movies had these issues back then.

I still wouldn't call this movie horror, maybe slight macabre is more likely, but I can see how this movie would scare people back then. It's not a great movie, but it is decent by standards back then. Today I do not think a man in an ape costume would get people scared, but if you look at movies like Planet of the Apes and so on you can see who we do fear ape, animals that are too closely related to us.

You are not missing much if you decide to skip this movie. There really isn't anything ground breaking or terrifying in it.

Day 18: 30 Day Favorite Horror Film Challenge

Day 18 - Your favorite foreign horror film (outside of your country of origin) - I haven't seen too many foreign horror films, and the ones I have are the old silent film "horror" movies. The ones that are foreign that I have seen are the American remakes if they are modern. So I had to look up a list of some to see if I had seen any of them. Well I am going to have to go with the old silent film horror movies, because those are the only ones that will fit. Don't worry I have a good listen of them to pick from.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, is not only one of my favorite old movies it is also one of the great classic films. For some people silent films are boring, but to me some of them are truly amazing. This of course is a movie done in Germany so you might have to find a version with English screen titles or captions. Since this is not a well know movie I will give you the plot line.

The movie is about a zombie like man name Caesar who, at festivals is able to predict the future. His master is Dr. Caligari who keeps Caesar in a coffin when he is asleep. Caesar escapes and starts murdering people. When he finds Jane a beautiful women, he kidnaps her. The story goes on from there, but you get the idea.

From what I have seen there is a remake done in 2005, but I doubt it is any good and I guess some people call this the original horror film. So there you have it, you want a truly good movie that doesn't need CGI to scare you or give you a fright, then try to find this movie to buy or rent.

Boston's Ghosts and Gravestone Tour

If you cannot tell I have a huge love for the paranormal,minus aliens and if possible when I am traveling I try to do a ghost tour orsomething similar. I’ve never done an actual investigation with a ghost huntingteam, but doing a tour in haunted places with some history thrown in is stillfun. So it was a no brainer that while I was in Boston, going on a ghost tourwas a must. It’s a good place to do one, since the city has such a rich historyand a lot of bad things have happen that spirits would remain.

There were two tours that I found, but I had no problemchoosing one over the other. The one we choose was Ghost and Gravestone,organized by Historic Tours of America. Now while looking at the website andthe brochure this one looks gimmicky, but it won me over because $4 of yourticket price (it was $38 a person when the other was $18) went to preservingthe historic grave sites they take you to visit. So this is why I choose thisone.

Me and half my sister on the trolley

So this tour takes you around Boston on a black trolley, butstops to let you off with a tour guide. Our tour guide’s name was Oxymanis, notsure if I am spelling that correctly. So the tour guides are actors, but theydo a great job telling the stories, making jokes and giving the tour a greatambiance. While we were sitting in the trolley waiting for everyone to arrive,our two was actually two trolleys; the cast was doing a great job gettingpeople in the mood. The trolleys were playing all sorts of Halloween thememusic i.e. Ghostbusters, The Munster’s Theme and so on. The cast, the two tourguides, the second was a female name Scarlett, and other casts were walkingaround the trolleys trying to scare people. They did a great job. Neither guidetalked to anyone, just look spooky and did whatever they could to get peoplefrighten, a few were scared before we even left.

Once everyone had arrived, you had to make reservations inadvance, we stopped by the day before we wanted to go to see if there weretickets and buy them so we didn’t have to worry about missing out. Our guide, Oxymaniusfinally spoke, he had a… I want to say Irish accent, actually all the actorswho did speak had either a cockney accent or an Irish accent. As corny as it was it did set the mood andthe time period for the tour. He had a story on how he came to lead peoplearound graveyards, he was a gravedigger for the cemeteries and got into graverobbing, when he got caught and was killed. I am not sure what Scarlett’s storywas. When on the trolley our guide told us about Boston’s haunted past andstories that were truly terrifying like a nurse who killed hundreds of peoplein her care, the Boston Strangler and the Molasses Flood.

We stopped at three graveyards, one in North End, one wherePaul Revere is buried and Boston Common. Yes, the famous park has lots ofbodies under it. I cannot remember all the names of the first two and with theaccents our guides had it was hard to understand if they were saying cobb orsomething else. They did a great jobpointing interesting things out and telling a story or two about certaingravestones and their occupants. Theymade it a lot of fun and truly played their parts.

I was trying to take as many pictures as possible to see ifI caught any ghosts and whatnot. It was hard to take pictures because we werewalking a lot and I had to use flash, which I hate to use. So I didn’t take asmany pictures as I would have liked. I didn’t see anything unusual when Iviewed my pictures, but I am not trained it photography or anything so I mighthave missed something.

The one downside to the tour was that since we were twogroups when walking our guides would face forward, even with them shouting ifyou were too far back you could not hear what they were saying. I do give toursto people in my job and I always face them. Which means I am walking backwards,but I know my way around well enough not to fall. I know using mobilemicrophones are not effective most of the time, but it would have been nice ifthe group were smaller. Maybe stager the two groups so we are not together.

Overall my sister and I had a lot of fun. I saw that thiscompany has other tours in large cities and will be another one if I an ever inone of those cities. There was a familywith 3 kids who I thought looked younger than 13 and even they said they werescared even though they knew it was pretend.

So if you are ever in Boston, or any great town with a lotof ghost stories do take a ghost walk/tour. I am sure you will have a lot ofgreat memories to share. I’ve taken others and this one was by far the best!

Day 17 - Your favorite horror film remake - I'm usually not a fan of remakes. Most that I have seen are pure crap and should have never seen the light of day. There is a rare occurrence where the remake to my surprise is better than the original. I off the top of my head can only think of two. Both by themselves were decent, but when compared with the original they were much better. So the one I personally liked better is

Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween (2007). The reason why I like this remake is that the original just made the family seem so... normal. Too normal if you look at most slasher movies and serial killer movies. I do like the original, but Rob Zombie made the family dysfunctional enough to explain why Michael Myers became what he was. I was never happy with how the original explain why he killed his sister and her boyfriend. It seemed too.... PG I guess you could say. So when I saw this remake I was glad to see the family messed up a bit more.

Day 16 - Your favorite childhood themed horror film - This one is a bit trickier for me. There is a lot of possibilities and I would think this is all on opinion on what you classify as a horror childhood theme movie. I tried to think of the movies I watched as a kid that could be horror themed and I think I have found on.

Ghostbusters!! This movie was huge when I was a kid. I did get the first and second movie confused all the time. This movie as so big there was even a cartoon that I watched every saturday morning when TV was good for kids. I think every Halloween of my childhood I would rent this movie, and probably whenever I felt like watching it. While it is a comedy it still has some great horror scenes, a bit more slapstick, but better than a lot of other movies I have seen. It's truly a childhood favorite of mine and there is talk of a 3rd movie....

Day 15 - Your favorite horror film involving serial killers - I have to say I like most of American enjoy and are festinated by serial killers. Hell there's a reason why I like the show Criminal Minds so much. Now you could classify slasher movies with serial killers since they do kill so many people. So I have to leave slasher movies out of it and pick a movie on just serial killers.

I have to go with American Psycho staring Christian Bale. I saw this movie only a few years ago and I actually refuse to see it because I thought it was some modern version of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Yes, I was wrong, but that is what I thought by the name. I will say this movie is very interesting and I will not spoil it for you, but the twist is done well and not in a way that makes you feel upset. There is a sequel, which I have been meaning to watch one of these days.

Movie Review: The Rite

Yeah another exorcism movie. I actually started this movie, got bored and I stop watching it. After I watched The Last Exorcism I decided to finish The Rite and see if I could get into it more.

Synopsis: Michael, who's father is a funeral director, joins the priesthood in order to get away from him. He goes to Seminary school where he decides to drop out with having no faith anymore. After witnessing an accident and being asked to pray for the victim herself, his mentor sends him to the Vatican to take the exorcism classes in hopes to bring Michael's faith back. Still not a believer he is sent to Father Lucas, an Exorcist to help with a 16 year old pregnant girl.

Through this time Michael still is a skeptic and he starts to see things that he has trouble understanding. It takes time for him to become a believer.

Review: Like I said above I got bored with this movie. It is like every other exorcism movie I have ever seen. There's the believer and the nonbeliever. Someone is possessed, usually an innocent child, and by the end of the movie the nonbeliever either does believe, or they die. So what is different about this movies? Nothing honestly, you barely get a look into the Catholic Church's exorcism school. There is some underlying issue between Michael and his father that seems to do with his mother's death, but I am not sure what it was.

The "journey" of Michael becoming a believer seemed pointless. He went through what exactly? I think being tormented by a demon, but that's it. Only because he didn't believe? Then miraculously he believes and defeats the demon... wait how did this happen? I think I missed something. Yes, he lost his father and Father Lucas goes.... crazy? None of that seem to help turn Michael into a believer. Big fail!

I usually like movies with Anthony Hopkins, but not this one. It was just okay. I'd say skip this movie and only watch The Exorcist. It's the only good one out there.

Movie Review: The Last Exorcist

This movie I received from Rue Morgue in a contest I had entered. I will say that I shy away from exorcism movies because they appear to be all the same and growing up Catholic I am not as into them as others maybe. I'm not even sure I knew this movie was made.

Synopsis: A pastor who does exorcisms, yet doesn't believe in demon possessions is making a documentary on how easy it is to trick people into believing they have been cured. He is also doing this since he read several people, a child especially, had died while having one performed on them.

He chooses the first letter he receives and it happens to be a family in the boonies, who's livestock is being slaughtered. What he fines is a more complicated story of a sweet 16 year old girl being "possessed". What he gets is more than he realizes.

Review: Now this is another one of those documentary horror movies, but this one was done well. Maybe because Eli Roth is producing this movie, but it's better than Blair Witch or Paranormal Activity. Done professionally, and none of the teenager handy cam affect. The story and the twist are okay. The story is better than the twist. It does go along with a lot of horror movies of when you think it's all over, there's more to come. I think the ending was a little poorly done. It did not really answer all the questions and I think the audience is suppose to interoperate the ending.

So this movie it done pretty well minus the ending and if you like exorcist movies then go rent it.

Day 14 - Your favorite zombie film - Since we all know that zombies are not my thing it's hard to pick a zombie movie that I like. I can easily see flaws in them or how fake the zombies look. So for me this is another hard one, but I can pick one.

Zombieland is one movie that I liked right away that was about zombies. Maybe because it was a comedy and had some great scenes in it that I liked it. There was just so much about it that I liked. The whole rules, and how it's hard to trust people when the world is in chaos. It just did things right without getting too overboard like some zombie movies. And of course they didn't have to end it with a hey everyone he killed them all or something. It was left where they still had to survive, but where happy with each other.
