Don't Be Afraid of the Dark? Movie Review

Anyone else hear the title of this movie and think it was going to be an adaptation of the Nickelodean show Are You Afraid of the Dark? I did too and once I saw the trailer I realized it was something completely different.

Yes, I haven't seen or reviewed a movie for a while. I apologize for that I have been preparing for our trip to Viva Las Vegas, which I hope I get to meet Elvira and I am also job hunting for a better job.

Synopsis: Sally is forced to live with her dad who lives in an old historic house in Rhode Island that he and his girlfriend are restoring. Sally starts having this creatures calling to her and wanting to play with her. They are ancient creatures who want to do more than just play with her.

Review: The movie wasn't too bad of a movie. While there was some intense scenes where you are waiting for something to happen, it wasn't as scary as I had heard other people say it was. I did notice that the creatures and the special features were done very well. It didn't look computerize and fake at all.

I think the best part of the movie was the end. It was intense and you did not see it happening at all. It's not up there with the great horror movies where everyone or mostly everyone is dead. Overall the movie was just okay. It's one that I am glad I waited until it was on Netflix to watch. I think I would have felt like I wasted money if I saw it in the theater.
