Haunted Las Vegas

In about 4 days I will be in Vegas with my Fiancé where we will be attending a huge rockabilly convention called Viva Las Vegas. As with most of my trips I look up haunted stories about where I am going. I haven't done this with Las Vegas, but I figured since I have been slacking on my posts of horror news and movies I might as well do some paranormal stuff since it's another one of my passions.

If you look on The Shadowlands's website on haunted places you get a lot of hauntings in the various hotels and casinos.  All basic hauntings and nothing out of the ordinary. There's also a Haunted Las Vegas tour which looks interesting. Sinnermag has a nice list with more information on haunts that happened in the Las Vegas area.

While this trip will have little if anything to do with ghosts I like to know if there is a possibility of hauntings so I can be aware of any feelings that I have. All this ghost talk makes me wish I had more ghost experiences to share with you all like in my videos, but I don't.

Also if you go to vegas and are looking for some horror related attractions you are in luck. Eli Roth... yes that Eli Roth has a year round haunted house called Goretorium

So nothing will be coming from me between march 27-31 while I enjoy my vacation.

World War Z Second Trailer

We have been given the second trailer to the... well I won't say anticipated movie because I doubt anyone is looking forward to this movie anymore. With all the news about the issues with it and then re-filming there's little hope for it now I think.

I thought the book was okay and was looking forward to the movie to help me see things better, but after seeing this trailer there seems to be almost no parts of the book even in this movie. Yes, the book is written like a memoir with different people's experiences, but I do not see anything I remember from the book. This trailer does seem to have some hope that the movie isn't a total lost, but I think relating it to the book is a bad call. Did anyone even see a zombie in this trailer? I didn't.

Bates Motel Pilot Episode

If you know me, you know that one of my all time favorite horror movies is Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock. So when I heard they were doing a TV show and all based on Norman and his mother I was a little unsure about how I felt about it. I'm not always a horror purist, but there are some things I think the horror genre lately has been ruining and that's with the remakes, sequels and overall bad bad choices.

The pilot episode of Bates Motel was on Monday March 18th and I was able to find the full episode on A&E's website.

Synopsis:
Norman Bates and his mother Norma move from Arizona to some small Oregon town near the coast. They buy a home with a motel. This is starting over... again for the two of them. Norman seems to hit it big with the pretty girls in school despite being a bit awkward. His language arts teacher is his advisor as well and seem really into him finding his place and there's a bit of awkwardness between the two.

The former owner of the house and motel start harassing the Bates because he lost his property and decides to come claim it and everything inside including Norma. He kills the man and has Norman help her move his body to the motel to hid in a tub. To cover it up they start taking the carpet out to show that they are remodeling it so it doesn't look suspicious. They dump his body in the lake and the episode ends.

Review:
Overall I have no idea how I feel about this show. One episode isn't enough to really judge it, but its not enough to make me fall in love with it. I'm a little confused on why Norman and his mother dress like its 1950s yet it's clearly present day. I don't know if its some kind of throw back or what. Just seems odd. Yes there are people who dress in vintage clothing but this does not see like the answer.

I also don't understand why they are in Oregon. The Bates Motel is in Arizona where they say the Bates are from just outside of Scottsdale. I get that it's a wink to those who know Psycho but just doesn't make sense.

I will watch more to see if its going to be worth it. I will say that the acting is good it's just the writers and directors part that I'm a little lost on.

Chernobyl Diaries: Movie Review

I haven been wanting to see this movie since I heard about it. I wasn't sure what it was going to be on, but the idea of a horror movie in Chernobyl seemed like a new idea.

Synopsis: 6 tourists go on a "Extreme" tour to the city of Pripyat, where the nuclear reactor had failed and tons of people had to evacuate. While there things don't seem right and one thing after the next goes wrong.

Review: I really have to question what I was looking forward with this movie. I was bored for the most part and felt like the usual cheep scares to get the audience to be one edge failed. I sat there wondering what I was suppose to be afraid of.

The "monsters" in this movie I THINK were radioactive cannibals. I'm not sure because they never mentioned what they were, but that's my guess best on the clues you were given. It took the entire hour of the movie to get to where I knew what was so scary about this town.

The only other giveaway of this movie being crap was that they played the usual, opps they won't let us through we'll take the back "secrete" road so no one knows we're here... come one that one has been done and even the crappy and good horror movie stop this plot a long time ago.

I really wish this movie was better, it had the potential, but it fell very flat. And as usual they left it where you can guess there might be a sequel, which I hope isn't or better than this one. So please don't waste your time.
