The Walking Dead Season 5 episode 1 No Sanctuary

I'm going to try to review this season of the Walking Dead like I did when I watched season 1. Not sure if it's going to happen, but if it does, it won't be up by Monday morning. I work late nights and if I get to see it when I come home on Sundays, I'll be too tired to write it up.

I will say I think this season is very anticipated since season 4 left off with so many questions. It seems like when we start back up there isn't too much time that has gone by. At least it doesn't seem like it. I'm not sure how much I get from Gareth's past other than he became hard due to what happened at the last flashback.

Synopsis: We first see a flashback of Gareth's not sure where he is or what is exactly going on. We then see our survivors still in the train car making weapons for when the terminus group comes for them. When they do come they take Rick, Bob, Glenn and Daryl. We then see men cutting bodies open and sitting a total of 8 men in front of a long sink and drain. Just before they get to our group there are gun shots and an explosion.

We get to see Carol, Tyresse and baby Judith on the tracks heading towards Terminus. Tyresse still cannot kill anything and after Carol does, they realize that a huge pack of zombies is heading towards Terminus. They find a man setting up firecrackers to confuse the zombies. Karen ties him up and heads towards Terminus to find the rest of the group. She shots a propane tank and then fires a firecracker at it to make it blow up.

Our group get out of their confinements and fights there way out. While they are getting their supplies they hide in the woods, they reunite with Carol, Tyresse and Judith. The group sets out towards DC.

Review: I loved this episode. This is why I started to watch it in the first place. I know the cast said it could be too gory and wrong to air on tv and with what we see I can see how that is possible. I do think one little thing I saw that took corny was the bald guy with the bat making practice gold swings in the back ground. It look like they didn't know what to do and just had him to that to have something in the background. Other than that it was a great episode.

I think the flashbacks of Gareth are just to give us a tease as to why he does this.

The Walking Dead Season 5 trailer.

Well it's finally here!! I completely forgot that we really haven't seen much for the upcoming season of the walking dead. This last season ended with several huge cliffhangers and us fans have been waiting to see what is going to happen to our group.

I won't spoil it for those of you who want to wait to see it, but it looks very good. I've heard reports that several of the cast members mentioned that the first episode had stuff taken out because it was too horrific. I think one of them even said they weren't sure if it was even legal. Which means this season will be dark, very dark. Which I like. I've only just now started to read the comics and they are much darker than the show. So this make me happy. There's a lot you see that helps you see where people are, even Beth. So this should be a good season. Hopefully, what you see isn't just the first episode. They've done that and used a lot of misleading trailers for previous seasons.

World War Z Second Trailer

We have been given the second trailer to the... well I won't say anticipated movie because I doubt anyone is looking forward to this movie anymore. With all the news about the issues with it and then re-filming there's little hope for it now I think. 

I thought the book was okay and was looking forward to the movie to help me see things better, but after seeing this trailer there seems to be almost no parts of the book even in this movie. Yes, the book is written like a memoir with different people's experiences, but I do not see anything I remember from the book. This trailer does seem to have some hope that the movie isn't a total lost, but I think relating it to the book is a bad call. Did anyone even see a zombie in this trailer? I didn't. 

Walking Dead 3.5

So we have less than a week until The Walking Dead starts back up. I was listening to the Walking Dead TV Podcast and they were talking about what they want and don't want to see for the rest of season 3. So I thought I would write my own, especially since it's been a while since I've posted anything.

1) I want no more main character deaths. We've had plenty this season and I rather them be unexpected than always expecting one.

2) Slow things down a bit. I don't mind all the action, but I feel like things have gone too quickly.




And because this is kind of awesome there was a Walking Dead Super Bowl ad. Well it was for Time Warner Cable, but it has Daryl in it so enjoy.

Dead Alive: Movie Review

It's shocking but I think I have found what in my opinion is the worst horror movie out there and it's gross, gory and directed by a well know director. Yes, worse than Abraham Lincoln Vs Zombies and Gacy House. And a lot of horror fans love this movie so what the hell is wrong with me. Well I guess there is such a thing as too much gore for this horror fan... who knew I'd had a breaking point.

Synopsis: A young man's mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey. She gets sick and dies, at which time she comes back to life, killing and eating dogs, nurses, friends, and neighbors. (Taken from IMDB).

Review: As you can see from the movie poster it's hailed as one of the goriest movies of all time. I use to hear people talk about how gory Hostel and Saw movies were... I guess none of those people saw this one. I only watched this movie because my fiancé asked if I had ever seen it and said it was one of those movies you had to watch. I remember seeing this movie back when Blockbusters had storefronts and Netflix and Redbox didn't exist. I was never drawn to it and didn't pay much attention to it. When I saw that Peter Jackson... yes that Peter Jackson directed this movie I figured it would be okay... boy was I wrong. I'll put it nicely if I had seen this movie when it first came out or before seeing the Lord of the Rings Trilogy I would never go see one of his movies.

Why so bad? Well the dorky 1950s plot with awkward nutty professor like acting was just a distraction.  Lots of tripping and falling and not the kind I felt belong in a horror movie. The rat monkey was done out of clay and just looked like the old King Kong or Godzilla movies. The gore... man it is gory and if you cannot stomach much blood, guts, vomit and other bodily fluids in horror movies avoid this one like the plague. You will need to commit yourself to the hospital because you'll be vomiting none stop for weeks. While I do enjoy a gory movie this was overdone and I think was more of a why not than a purpose.

The most disturbing thing for me was the priest and the nurse zombies having sex. This scene will turn off even the most loose girls. I'm going to have nightmares for months now of fat ugly zombies having sex...  No one touch me right now!

I honestly cannot think of anyone who would enjoy this movie, but people do. So if none of what I have describe has turned you off then got watch it. But don't come to me when you nee therapy after seeing thing one.

I gave it one star on Netflix because that's the lowest you can rate, but in all reality it gets 1/4 of a star from me. I just need a big old red no symbol to place over the poster and that's an accurate rating for me.

Podcast

I am going to embed the player for my podcast. I have been thinking about doing one for this blog or movies in general and then I started the out running the zombies blog and did one there. I am using podOmatic to host and while it's still in the early stages please give a listen and let me know what you think.

I may want to get into an actual radio show or something, but we will see.

What to Wear: Zombie Edition

I have been thinking about this for some time now. I have been slowly watching Doomsday Preppers and one of the... preppers got me thinking. She was a woman just about my age who was dressed like most of us do when we are working out and I realized that most women in doomsday/zombie films and tv shows are dressed for eye candy, but is any of that realistic or smart? I say no. 

Here's one example of what we see in zombie movies. This is Ali Larter as Clare in Resident Evil: Afterlife. Now yes, she looks bad ass and we all want to look this good while killing zombies or wastelanders, but it is not smart. It's not practical and it sends a warning flag to those who are looking to hurt, kill and rape that you are no prepared... unless you want to trip them into thinking that. 

Here's another example from Wrong Turn. Yes, again she looks bad ass, but how the hell is she going to hide from these... what the hell were those things anyway? Deformed rednecks? Anyway there is no hiding in a white shirt that is cut up. 

I could go on, but I will stop and get to my point. To dress for the end of the world and the chaos that is sure to follow we as woman should take the smart approach and not that I'm going look hot kicking ass approach. While yes, while working hard you're going to sweat, but if you are bugging out or trying to hunt or hide from people in a tight fitting tank top, skinny jeans and nikes. 

Instead camo and earth base tones will be your best friend. 

Here's some examples that I think you need to start stocking up so you are prepared. 

So see you can look good, but smart too. So remember if you want to keep from standing out and being a target then think of what you should wear so you can hide. Now shoes… not heels or anything open toed. Go with a good pair of boots. Hiking or even hunting boots will protect you and more than likely there won’t be any issue of you hurting yourself. 

Horror Apps

No not about apps that are horrible, there are plenty of them out there I am sure. I'm on the looking out for apps that are horror in them. I have only one right now and I am dying to try it, but I won't for a while. I need more though. I just got an iphone and want to get some good apps. Even none horror related ones that you think I might like.

I have Zombies, Run! Which is a running/interval training app that has a nice story about being a survivor and trying to stay away from zombies while collecting supplies for the base you are on. You also can take the items and put where you think they need to go on your base. It sounds great and I have it, but not used it yet. I am towards the end of my couch to 5k program and I want to finish that before I do the zombies one.

Is It Upon Us?

So even though I do not watch the news and accidentally get most of the big news stories on Facebook I miss most of them. Unless someone tells me about it. Well it seems like here in the US we are starting to see signs that zombie are upon us. Also, from what I have seen all the "zombies" were high on bath salts... not the cool way people became zombies in the movies, but I guess we never really knew how it would begin. Though science stuff like a virus or something sounds better than a drug. So I will link the articles on the most recent ones and you can decide for yourself if we need to start preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse.

So what are we to do? Well here's my list:
1) Stay away from anyone one doing bath salts or places where people do drugs.
2) Hide your kids, hide your wife
3) Stock pile food and supplies
4) Get all the weapons you can and every type possible. Remember guns make noise and have no effect on these bath salt zombies.
5) Board up your house with all your supplies
6) Trust no one!!!

So to all of you in the South please be ready for this to get worse and everyone else in the world better see this as a warning to prepare.

Horror Themed 5k Obstacle Races

I am sure you have heard of the muddy/drunk races that are out there. Well now there are horror themed ones. There are two that I know of Run for Your Life and the Devil Dash. Only one of these will be in Phoenix, but both sound and look like fun. I have found some videos of the races I am going to share.

Devil Dash is the one here in Phoenix in October and it's a Dante's Inferno themed with obstacles that take your through the 7 layers of Hell, the site says purgatory, but I have read the Inferno and the layers mentioned are in that, not Purgatory. Two different places, but that is besides the point. I have been wanting to get into shape and think training for this is the best way to do it. I will put in the video, it looks tough and I never did some of that stuff so trying to gain strength so I can do it is going to be tricky. Run for your life is a zombie themed obstacle race where you try to not get attack from zombies. Yes, zombies will be there to try to stop you from surviving. It looks like fun, but the closest ones to me is Vegas or San Diego. Vegas is like a few weeks away and San Diego is the same day as Devil Dash here in Phoenix. So probably not this year, but another year I am so in. I don't know if Phoenix would be added, but San Diego or Las Vegas would be good places to do it. They have it in Boston too, but a little expensive to fly all that way for a race. To make things even funnier if you enter this sweepstakes you could get the organizer to pay you $5,000 for your funeral costs... it's not a joke. So I wonder what other horror theme races will be coming out. Could be some good ones too if people planned it right. So I think I will be doing the Devil Dash and will let you all know how I do. They say costumes are encouraged, but I am not sure what to do. As you see from the video many people just put on horns and a tail... not very creative and the animal costumes would just kill me. Well they are hot and just not comfortable in. So I'll take ideas. Brain said he couldn't do in wearing a Ghostbuster's jump suite and a proton pack on, but I think that's a cool idea... no one take it. Unless you put his blog's name somewhere on your costume.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Premier

It is finally upon us, season two of The Walking Dead!! I have been waiting for this for a long time. I had to wait until now to watch it since I have been busy.

Synopsis: We last left the group after the CDC exploded. The group is now heading towards Fort Benning. The RV breaks down on a freeway and the group looks through what is left behind for supplies they need. A heard of zombies comes through and the groups hides under the cars for safety. A few close calls,but everyone makes it. Sofia is chased by a walker and gets lost in the woods. The group keeps busying looking through the cars and moving cars off the road, while Rick, Daryl, and Glenn go looking for Sofia.

Shane tells Lori that he plans on leaving the group, which only complicates their relationship even more. We see even more issues with the group with Andrea, Dale and Shane over her gun and who is allowed to have a gun. The next day most of the group goes looking for Sofia, with Daryl leading. While looking the hear church bells, the make their way towards a church, and find zombies inside. The guys kill them quick and once again they hear bells, which is a speaker on a timer.

Andrea overhears Lori and Shane talking about Shane leaving. She asks Shane to allow her to come with him, because neither one of them belongs in the group. Rick seems to loose faith in himself after loosing Sofia. The group splits up and Lori confronts them all for blaming Rick for the outcomes and that they can go on their own if they want to.

The episode ends, when someone fires a gun at a deer Rick, Shane and Carl and goes through the deer and into Carl.

Opinion: For a season opening, it wasn't too bad. It really wasn't anything special, but I did like that Daryl had some decent moments/lines. He's stepping up to the plate you could say. There's probably more backstory to him going to come out is my guess, with what I noticed. While the beginning was great, the middle was just flat and the ending a crappy cliffhanger. I forgot the problems members of the group were having with each other so when they came up in this episode I had to remind myself. So they could have done more, I have to say 30 minutes looking for Sofia seemed a bit much. I hope they're not going to be looking for her the rest of the season, that would just be a drag.

Overall, it was decent.

Book Review: World War Z

I have been trying to finish this book for a while now. I finally was able to and now I get to review it for you guys.

Let me start off by saying if you are not a fan of zombies, but if you like books about war or history, then you might like this book. It is an oral history about when zombies start taking over the world and about how humans were able to overcome them.

The book's main character/narrator is interviewing all these people who had important roles in the war. It is a very easy read and hard to put it down. I decided to read it because I was seeing a lot on the movie that is currently being filmed based on the book. I am not sure how close the movie will be to the book, knowing Hollywood, not by much.

What appeal this book has is that, it has taken the zombie craze that people are obsessed with and put it into reality. What would happen if zombies took over the world and how would humans fair. It is different from all the other things I have seen by the fact it shows that not everyone can survive and how politics would play into it. Most movies are just about not getting bite or how to kill zombies.

So if you like zombies, or what to read a book about war and zombies this is for you.

The Walking Dead Season One Episode Six

Episode Six: This episodes start with what Shane saw at the hospital when Rick was still in the Coma. The military is killing people left and right and Shane tries to get Rick out, but is unable to and is unsure what to do. All the power goes out and Rick appears to be dead, so he lives Rick behind and gets himself out.

The group meets the doctor asks for a chance of survival not sure to trust each other. They must submit to a blood test so he can make sure none of them are infected. This is the first time we see the group letting go and enjoying themselves. They even let young Carl try a sip of wine. Except the doctor, who seems unwilling to enjoy the company.

They group gets their own quarters and hot water to shower in. We know that when things are tough a nice shower is always one way to make things better.  Of course not everyone is enjoying the safety. We know there’s an over looming cloud of danger. The group all seem to be heavy on the booze enjoying the taste of… goodness.

Shane is drunk and goes to Laurie trying to tell her, he really thought Rick was dead and that he wants her.

The next morning the doctor shows the group a brain of a human and then what happens when they become a walker. The subject, who allowed the doctors to track the process, turns out to be the doctor’s wife.  The process reanimates the body, but just what controls the movement.

He admits that he doesn’t know what this is that is affecting the world. Nor if anyone else is alive or if any part of the world is kept normal. They learn that the generator is about to shut down and the entire place will destruct.  In desperation some of them men check to make sure he’s no lying.

The rest of the group is not happy with things starting to look worse; they have 30 minutes before the place goes. The group tries to leave, but the doctor has everything shut down and won’t let them go.  He tells them that when the power runs out they place will explode and burn all living things inside.

Unwilling to accept death this the men try to axe the door open and the doctor tells everyone who Rick knew it was going to be the end of everyone he loves. They plea with him that they are not going to die like this, the doctor has long forgotten what it is like to want to live.

Rick gets the doctor to open up and how his wife asked him to get going as long as possible. Rick asks the doctor to let them do the same, go as long as they possibly can. They have a right. He lets them go, but the outside is in lockdown and he cannot open it. As they leave the doctor whispers something to Rick and not everyone is going to go with the group. 

Andrea isn’t willing to go and Dale tries to convince her to go. He decides if she doesn’t go, neither will he. On the top the men are trying to hack their way through the glass to get out. Nothing works, but Carol remembers that she took a grenade out of Rick’s pockets when she washed his cloths. It blasts the window and they run out.  With seconds to spare Dale and Andrea escape and the remaining survivors shoot their way to their vehicles and drive away with the CDC crumbling behind them. 

Review: This was a great way to end the season. You are left hanging with knowing the group got out alive, but where will they go now? A good show gives you something to hold on, but wanting more. They did this with this show. You are satisfy that they got out, but are wondering where are they going?

I can see why this show has got the following and the praise it has gotten. It is well deserved and I hope that the second season follows in the same direction.


Closing Notes: Well, that is the end of The Walking Dead Season One recaps. I hope you enjoyed them. I wasn't sure I was going to get them all done before Season Two started, but I did. If you are wondering when it begins, it's right around the corner. Season 2 starts on October 16th, which is today at 9/8 central time on AMC. Check your local listing for the exact time in your area. I won't be home to watch it, but I will try to find it so I can review it by Monday.

The Walking Dead Season One Episode Five

Episode Five: This episode starts with Rick on his radio trying to get a hold of Morgan letting him know not to get to Atlanta, that it is dangerous. We also see Andrea mourning the loss of her sister and having to killer her. The men of the group are making sure all the walkers are dead and burn them.

 We see Glenn get emotion about not burning members of the group who were attacked by walkers. Jim appears to be bite and this sets the group on edge. The group tries to decide where they are to go and get help from Jim. They decide to head towards the CDC, since they should be well armed, have food, shelter and other needs.

 Shane and Rick are still at odds with each other. Trying to figure out who is alpha male in the group. Even so the group still moves on towards the CDC in hopes of safety. The RV cannot go any further and Jim is getting worse. He cannot take the ride and asks to be left on the side of the road. The group talks about whether to honor Jim’s wish or not. After they leave Jim, we meet a Doctor who leaves his own videos on his experience. He seems to be working for the CDC and trying to understand the virus that has the whole world mad.

 The group makes it to the CDC finally and finds walkers everywhere and no access to the CDC. They have to walk quietly in order to get to the doors. At first they are not allowed in, but after Rick pleas with him, the doors open.

 Review: This episodes really plays on the human emotion. Loosing love ones, how to deal with someone who is clinging on to a dead love one and how to keep surviving when so much is going wrong. To be honest I would never think of going to a place like the CDC, but maybe if I knew it was a virus or something biological I might. I guess if it was mentioned on the radio and whatnot, it would make sense. I think this episode builds up to the end of the series very well. We know that things will never go simple. Murphy's Law as we know always plays into affect in situations like this.

The Walking Dead Season One Episode Four Recap

Episode Four:  We left off with Daryl angry that Merle is not on the roof and instead of killing everyone like he wants to, he take Merle’s hand to preserve if when they find him. Merle is nowhere to be found, but he seems to have gotten out alive.

Back at camp one of the members of the group, Jim is digging a lot of holes and that worries everyone. They try to stop him and they have to force him to stop. Meanwhile back in the city Glenn comes up with a plan to get the bag of guns. As we know nothing goes right for them. A young boy confronts Daryl and he is beat up while Glenn is taken.

The men try to get the boy to tell them where they took Glenn so they could get him back. Neither is willing to back down so Rick has to come up with what can be spared. A huge fight is about to break out, when an old woman comes in and stops everything. Turns out that the gang bangers stayed in an elderly home to take care of the people who were left behind. Ricks gives them about half their guns and ammo and walk back to where the truck was left and it is missing. They assume Merle took it and heads back to camp take his vengeance on the group. So they must hurry back.

The group is having dinner and enjoying freshly caught fish. No one is really concerned with the missing men or anything else around them. Walkers have invaded the campsite and both Ed and Amy have been attacked. The 4 men are approaching the camp when they hear Shane’s gunshots and rush towards the camp. Panic strikes everyone and no one knows where to go or what to do. The men come and kill as many walkers as they can while everyone else heads towards the RV.

The episode ends with Andrea crying over Amy and the group stunned. Jim remembers why he dug the holes.

Review: I enjoyed this episode, it's pretty fast moving and there are a few surprises that come up. I really like how the group of thugs were not what they appear to be. Okay some of them were, but it showed how, eve though the world has gone crazy people still victimize the weak. There are not changes, just the situation got dire. People would of course blame their actions on things other than who they are. 

 The whole Jim thing seems a bit... odd. It's not really a guy who has a crazy dream that turns real, even though that's what we see. It just seems like a weird idea that just didn't play well for me.

The Walking Dead Season One Recap Episode Three

Episode Three:  The episode opens with Merle still stuck on the roof, obviously has lost it. He’s still trying to get free because zombies have made it to the roof and he’s close to becoming one himself. As he lies there praying he sees a hacksaw and we can assume what he’s going to do.

Our group of survivors is making their way back towards the camp, while Shane offers to teach Carl how to catch frogs to feed the group. Of course Glenn arrives in the Charger still with the alarm going off.  We now see the family reunion Rick and Lori never thought they would get. Later on that night Rick tells everyone what it was like waking up with out knowing what was going on. 

Of course not all is good and happy at camp. There are still problems between people, too many alpha males in the camp. There is also talk about how to tell Daryl, Merle’s brother, what happen to him.

The next morning all seems fine until the children scream as they find a walker eating deer that has been shot down with arrows. The men use weapons to kill it. In comes Daryl who has just returned from his hunting trip. The guys break it to Daryl about his brother and he tries to fight Rick and Shane. Rick explains what happens and that he’s planning on going back to get Merle. Shane and others have an issue with this, but Rick, Daryl, Glenn and T-Dog decide to go.

While the four men are back in the city to get the guns and Merle, Shane teaches Carl how to catch frogs and the women talk about doing all the work around the camp and al the things they miss. Ed, who is your typically controlling husband, has to but in he tries to control the women and Shane steps in and beats Ed’s ass. Also, we have Lori and Shane arguing about their evolving relationship and how she doesn’t want him around her family.

 

The men get to the store and instead of finding Merle all they find is a severed hand and the tools. And we have the end of the episode. 

My Opinion: I like this episode because it introduces probably my favorite characters and actor on the show, who for some reason is overlooking. I guess he started out as a guess actor, but I think of him as an important main character. That would be Daryl Dixon played by Norman Reedus. I guess it's because he's in on all time favorite movie, which is not a horror film, Boondock Saints. 

I think what this episode does is shows us the kind of men both Rick and Shane are. Rick is your hero, who sacrifices everything to make sure everyone has a fair chance. Shane on the other hand is all about staying together, even though in the trailer for the second season it appears that he might leave the group. It shows how a like, but different these two friends are. 

I am not a fan of the love triangle, well if you even want to call it that. It seems stupid and I am not sure how much time most women would be willing to give themselves before they get involved with another man. I just don't know. 

I also cannot stand Lori when it comes to big emotions. She has these wide open deer in the headlight eyes that just seem to be one of her few emotions. You see it in just about every episode when something terrible, shocking or scary happens. 

 My last thought is I wonder if they will ever find Merle and/or Morgan, or if they are just forgotten now. I am not sure what to expect, it doesn't seem like there's too much talk about these characters returning, but I could be wrong. 

The Walking Dead Season One Episode One Recap

Episode One:  This episode shows us the aftermath of whatever madness has happen to this small town in Georgia. We meet Rick Grimes and his best friend and partner Shane. We see the desperation people went through trying to escape and survive. Rick wakes up after being critically injured after being shoot twice while trying to capture a car full of suspects, to find things are not how they use to be.

The hospital is empty and what he does find is tons of bodies. Unsure of what has happen Rick flees uneasily towards his home to look for his wife and son. While trying to understand what is going on when his wife and son are not home he meets two survivors, a man and his son. They treat him hostilely, since they are unsure if a walker or something else wounded him. Once he has convinced them he just woke up and have no idea what has happen he realized things are very wrong.

He learns that lights and loud noises attract the walkers and not to let any of their blood get on his face. He takes the man and his son to the sheriff’s station where they take a shower and load up on guns. They part ways, Rick heads towards Atlanta, where there is suppose to be safe refuge and the CDC, and the man and his son go back to the home where he tries to cut ties with his wife who became a walker.

We meet other survivors who are outside of Atlanta with Shane. They receive a radio transmission, but are unable to communicate with Rick, neither Shane nor Rick’s wife recognize his voice due to static. There is a fight between Lorie and Shane about putting signs up to let people know that the city is not safe. Lorie and Shane obviously have a romance going on, but it seems to be out of need rather than love.

Rick comes across an abandon home, where he finds a grim situation; it appears that the homeowners killed themselves so they would not turn into walkers. Rick finds a horse at this house and uses it when he is out of gas in his cruiser. As he approaches Atlanta everything seems deserted like the town he just left, but of course the town is full of walkers. 

Seeing a chopper in the air Rick rides through the city trying to find it and let them see him, when he rides right into a huge crowd of walkers. He becomes surrounded and is knocked off his horse. He retreats under a tank, where he is cornered and has to shoot to give him a way out. As he seems to attempt a quick suicide he climbs through a hatch into the tank, where he kills a walker and because of the close quarters starts to go deaf from the bullet bouncing off the walls and creating a ringing noise. Now that his bag full of guns is in the middle of the walkers Rick is stuck in the tank. Again suicide seems to be his only option, when a voice comes over the radio. Who is this mysterious person?

My Opinions:   It is easy to see that while this is the first episode, it is not that exciting compared to the rest of the season. The reason is it has to set up the madness and what Rick goes through as he first finds out what happens while he was in a coma. With that said the walkers in the episode are still pretty cool, bicycle girl and the little girl are two that stand out in the episode. If you have the DVDs for season one watch the special features, they show you how they did bicycle girl. You will be impressed. 

What I liked about this episode that it did take it's time, as does this season explaining things to you. Some shows rush everything in 20 or 50 minutes, this show does not  d this even when the first episode is 90 minutes long. Trust me I rather them take the time to do things that rush through it and you feeling like it was too short of a ride. 

Another thing this show does well, especially with this episode and the next is using simple things to pull out emotions. When you see Shane and you assume at least two of the survivors are Rick's wife and son you hope he finds them. It's simple, but you are left with the hope that something good will come out of this madness. 

The Walking Dead Season One Recaps

I meant to get this done earlier so I could do one post a week, the six weeks leading up to the season 2 premier, well obviously that isn't possible, so expect one or more posts a week recapping each of the six episodes. I will try to give as much detail without writing a 5 page paper on the episode and then give me views on it. This will be anything from what I like, what I hated, and anything to note. If you want to watch on your own and not have things spoiled then don't read these recaps because I may give some spoilers away. Also if you want to comment and have a discussion on each post on the episode feel free to do that as well.

Resident Evil Viral Website

I thought I would share this, since this game fits right in the with the zombie genre. It was out before zombies became... popular I guess is the correct word. Now I have not played any of the games, so my knowledge is a bit limited, but I must say having a viral website is pretty cool to do before the release.

The game is Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Like I said I have not played any of these games, but this website does make me want to play this one, when it comes out. The premise of the website is to bring you to the Umbrella Science website where you'll learn all about them... actually the website gets hacked by another website called inserted evil where a mysterious man is trying to bring to light (no pun intended) all the bad things that are going on with Umbrella. The website will give you clues weekly and you have to solve them. You can get help from friends via facebook and twitter to help unlock the clues. The first clue is up and no I have not solved it yet.

I will say this is a ingenious idea by Capcom to get people not only excited about the game, but to keep them busy until it comes out on... well that's still unknown according to IGN. I say give the site a looks and if you are into what is going on try to solve the clues. Check out the website at www.umbrellasciences.com

Walking Dead Season 2: Update and a Mini Review

Okay I have a confession to make... I'm not really into zombies. Yes, I know how dare I not love the walking dead, the living dead. I'm not sure why, but zombie movies, shows, costume never were my thing. Not sure if it's because I know so many zombie/fallout fans who have the Zombie Survival Guide memorized. Or maybe I just don't want to think about living with zombies.  Or maybe because zombies are such a hot commodity and don't want to join the bandwagon just like I will NEVER like sparkly vampires. Whatever my dislike for them I do at times have zombie related media that does make me shut up about how much I hate zombies.

Several months ago my boyfriend brought over season one of AMC's Walking Dead. I was a little unsure about watching this. I did hear a lot of people rave about this show, but I never had a chance to see it. Why? Well, I do not have cable.... WHAT?! Yes, you read that right, I do not have cable, yes I know I am missing out on some amazing shows, but either way I am just find without it. That's what hulu and netflix is for. Anyway, by watching the first season I was surprised that I actually like the show. It is definitely a show I would not think of watching. Maybe because this show plays a lot on human emotion of trying to survive and not so much on the zombies that I like it... or maybe there is something different about it that I just cannot put my finger on it.

This fall the second season will start and we will find out where our caravan of survivors will do next, since their only hope for safety went up in flames. AMC has released two photos of the zombies. They look pretty good, some movies do a poor job at the make-up for zombies. My friends have dressed up as zombies enough that I know that green paint and blood is not what a zombie looks like. It seems like an easy costume/make-up idea, but really it's not. So I will look forward to seeing what the new season will have to offer
