I know this is not horror related, but I wanted to take a moment to express my sadness for all of those affected by the shoot in Colorado during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. Yes, it's not a horror movie, but going to the movies is suppose to be safe and fun. We go because for a few hours we get to escape and enjoy something where whatever is going on in our lives is put on hold.
We never think that something like this event could happen. I don't know all the details and I believe over the next month or two we will get a better idea of why this man decided to do what he did. It really shocked me this morning because I was at the Batman Marathon at one of the local theaters and it's so easy to forget that evil lurks even in the most happiest of places. What should have been a fun night for fans of Batman turned into something horrible. We all know the loss and pain of innocent people being taken from us feels like. It's not fair and we start to question whether there is good in this world. There is and when we focus on only the bad we let evil win.
So I am terribly sorry this happened and I hope we can learn from it and remember how precious life can be. Enjoy your weekend and be safe.
