So I decided to start alphabetically with the collection of horror movies I just bought. Of course the disc are organized differently so what is listed as the first movie on the back of the DVD case is on disc 11 out of 12. I don't know the reason for this, but doesn't matter, there is a booklet inside that lets me know which disc and which side of the disc which movies are on it. Plus, it's written on each disc. It's just like records back in the day being labeled. Yes, I just referenced records, and for those of you who never heard of these ancient music technology here's a picture of a record
So the movie The Amazing Mr. X is about a rich woman who's husband dies, she's trying to move on, but she is haunted by him. While walking on the beach near her mansion she thinks she hears his voice, only to find a name name Alexis, who is what we today would call a gypsy or a magician. Using illusion to con people. He is working with her "dead" husband so he can get her riches. This is the basic of the movie.
Yes, this movie is from 1984 so the special effects are very basic, but I will say done as well as Hitchcock himself did them. You know how they are making things happen, but to see if in black & white you are still intrigued by them. This movie is good, I would not say one of the best, but a good example of what horror was back in those day before the gore and disturbing was popular or accepted.
